Thin Line - Part 1/? written by Two-Harts with special thanks to Aabysinyaa
John opened his eyes slowly, the blinding light adding onto the headache that he already had. He blinked a few times, his blurry vision soon focusing onto the man with his back turned to him on the other side of the room.
John groaned causing the mans attention to be drawn to him, a smirk forming on his face. "Don't worry, the drugs will wear off soon."
John cleared his throat, attempting to move but stopped when he realised he was bound to a chair. "Where am I?" he asked in a low voice, "Who are you?"
The man leaned against the table with his arms crossed. It had taken John a few moments to actually consider his situation. Obviously a kidnapping, but he couldn't remember how, or why. Who was the man who stood before him?
Wait. He recalled reading an article in the newspaper about something similar to this. Kidnappings, and then two to three days later the bodies would turn up in odd places. He knew there were no leads on the murderer and he wondered if this man who stood before him, could be it.
"You're the one they're looking for." his eyes followed the other man as he crossed the room to a table. "Did you know I'm a doctor? They will notice I'm missing at the hospital, and when they do, the-"
"They will come find me." The other man turned with a smirk before he began walking slowly to John, "Exactly. Now then, if they're clever, they'll be able to catch me."
"Y-you want to be caught?"
The man stopped in front of John, his fingertips brushing lightly against John's cheek. John turned his face away, scolding away from his touch.
He lowered his hand to his side. "The clever ones are always so desperate to get caught, wouldn't you say?" he continued, "It's all just a game to us. We play to win, but want to lose. Only to see if anyone is clever enough to capture us." The man smirked devillishly. Clear eyes piercing, "So we find ourselves at the crux of this conversation, what shall happen now?"
"Why don't you tell me?" John scoffed, rolling his eyes.
The other man raised an eyebrow, his smirk fading away slowly. "Interesting," he mumbled leaning closer, mere inches away from John's face, "The others weren't as feisty as you. I could have fun playing with you. However I think you'll find that this dicusion will be up to you, Â I'm going to offer you a seat in my car. You take it and I'll take you with me. Or you fight. And you'll be hurt and potentially killed before the night is over," the man's grin was manic now.Â
'God help me' was the only thing John could think, his entire body shaking now 'Please God, let me live.'
"Think fast John," he continued, "I'm giving you the opportunity of survival. A simple drive, that's all."
John seemed to doubt that it would merely be a 'simple drive'. Although he suspected there was a catch behind his plan, John just nodded slightly, pressing his lips into a thin line. "If it's my only chance of survival, I'm going to have to take it"
The man's grin softened with a satisfied sigh.Â
He wandered back over to the desk and opened the draw, then pulled out a British Army Browning L9A1."As boring as I find guns," he started as he loaded it and turned back to John, "I just can't allow you to escape, and this is probably the only way to keep you at bay."
"What? That you're a soldier? That you have training?" he shrugged slightly as he wandered back over to him, "Childs play."
He undid the straps that bound John to the chair with a flick of the wrist. Judging by how easily the other man had undid the straps, he figured perhaps it would have been simple for himself to escape. John rubbed his wrists as he stood from the chair, the other man gestured towards the door.
John wandered slowly to the door, placed his hand on the handle to open it, only to have the other mans hand grab his quickly. He leaned in close to John's ear, "Stick to the rules Dr. Watson," he bit down on the top of his ear, "I can be rather cruel" He soothed the bite with his Tongue before opening the door.Â
John was led down a darkened corridor, the man hand resting lightly on his back until they had reached another door that led them outside. The moment they had gotten outside John had glanced around to figure out where he was, although he didn't have any luck.
"I can see it in your face that you want to escape," he commented before yanking him back by the hair and holding the gun under his chin. John let out a groan of pain as the man continued talking, "But I also know you won't do that, John." He lowered the gun to his side, still holding John by the hair, "You want this and you know it. Try to deny it, but you miss the thrill of danger, don't you. I can give it back to you."
John stared blankly at the night sky his mouth gaping. This man, without even knowing him was telling the truth. His leg no longer pained him, the tremor in his left hand completely gone. It's all true, he thought, how could this happen?
The man loosened his grip, running his fingers through his hair, stopping at the nape of his neck. His voice was lowered down to a whisper, "I'll give it back to you, if you want."
"It wasn't just coincidence," John side-glanced the other man, gazing into his piercing eyes, "Finding me, I mean." A smirk crossed his face that said 'obviously.' John took a sharp inward breath as he returned his gaze forward. Something in him said this man had been following him for a while.
Although it was unknown to what, John knew this man needed something of him. He figured it must have been something important, otherwise he wouldn't have chosen him. Or perhaps it was all based in his final decision.
John's was torn between two sides. He wondered how he could even consider joining him? But he didn't particularlly want to find out what would happen if he refused. Swallowing hard he turned back to the man, nodding his head, "Okay."
He lowered the hand from his neck, then leaned closer, licking a trail up John's neck until he reached his jawline.
John swallowed hard. "What do I call you then?" he asked.
The man pulled back, locking eyes with a devilish smirk. "You may call me Sherlock Holmes," he replied as he injected a needle into John's neck, his vision fading slowly to black. "Welcome back."
