That guitar and foot stomping beat. It’s so simple yet so soul stirring. Hits something real deep inside and makes me sit and listen with every fiber of my being. This song was introduced to me by a friend who was going through a rough patch in life. And this was her anthem to get through that time. Cause I want whiskey when I’m sick and a man when I’m well, but it’s nice to have them both sometimes when I feel like raising hell, she scream sings in the car while asking me to drive faster into the inky void of that black night highway. That was the only line she sang. Never the so don’t try and save me, I’ll be just fine. I’m getting used to walking on a thin line. I feel like I got a lot insight into how internal rage manifests at the world when it feels like it is spiralling out of control for someone. This song is a great audio representation of keeping a brave face on while the entire internal network is collapsing. The bridge where the song breakdowns into a crescendo of overlapping instruments where every sound is fighting to be louder than the rest and only constant is the sheer amount of noise and a little voice barely registering above it all. Before we slide back into that same foot stomping soul stirring guitar.
