Doodles to commemorate my first time going bird watching
Killdeer close-ups. What a ridiculous name for such a cute bird
Killdeer always look so concerned
a mama killdeer
There’s only so much a zoom lens could do, so I started approaching this gorgeous killdeer and as I would get closer she began to spread her wings (showing her beautiful orange feathers seen in the top right) and begin chirping very loudly. It was only during a FaceTime call with my mom where she would tell me that the bird was probably doing that to protect her eggs. After a quick check at my photos, I realized she was right.
I guess mothers recognize each other in every life form.

Today I went to a cemetery and saw a Killdeer bird who had a nest of eggs. She perceived me as a predator so she ran away from her nest and pretended to have an injured wing in order to lure me after her and away from her babies. Apparently this is common for Killdeer birds. It was very impressive and very touching. She is a very good actress and really looked like she has an injured wing.
Never talked about this before but I freakin love birds
I found these little guys by a pond, baby Killdeers! So teeny tiny you can barely see em, I’ll circle them under the cut
The mom attacked me but don’t worry no one was hurt
I love birds but I haven’t talked about it here
