A/N: I hope it makes sense that he is tall, aha. Also, I am so terribly sorry for the length of this one. Hair insp. (x)
"Hello, Y/N," you heard a chirpy voice from behind you. You jumped, clutching to sides of the photocopier as you wobbled in your four-inch heels, "Having a good day?" you turned around to face the owner of the voice to find a tall man clad in a white collar shirt and a black blazer. His tie was bright red, but instead of it being tied around his neck, it was hanging over his right shoulder. His shirt was unbuttoned and his hair was in a half-up, half-down style with the top half in a bun. Odd for a man, but you liked it nonetheless.
"Um, yes, thank you. Are you?" you replied nervously, afraid to mess up your speech and make a fool of yourself in front of him.
Kili leaned against the wall behind the photocopier on his elbow, his hand reaching into his hair as he watched you gather your papers.
"It's been better than usual today, actually. I'm heading home right now, Boss said I could leave early," he told you, explaining why he had taken off his tie, "I liked your hair today, Y/N," he noted, nodded at your Y/H/C hair that was pulled into a loose up-do.
"Thank you," you said with a blush on your cheeks, "I like your . . . face."
As soon as those words left your lip, you felt the sudden urge to bang your head against the wall. Your face flushed crimson, your eyes widened dramatically. You groaned in embarrassment.
"Was that your attempt at flirting, Y/N?" Kili teased, smirking as he pushed himself up from the wall and into a better posture.
"I was simply returning a compliment . . . ," was your poor excuse, "Doesn't mean it isn't true though."
"I knew it!" Kili cheered triumphantly, "You like me, don't you?" he asked cockily.
"Wow, now that is modest," you rolled your eyes at him but stopped talking when he took one of your hairs and pushed it behind your ear. You looked down at your shoe and bit your lip. What you didn't realise was that the way you did it could have been confused as seductive.
"You are so cute," Kili said dreamily, gazing deep into your eyes.
"Um," you stuttered awkwardly, shifting uncomfortably in your heels, "My team is waiting for me," you told him before rushing back to your desk. Glancing in your pocket mirror, you realised that no amount of make-up would be able to conceal the redness of your cheeks.

"Well, that could have been worse!" Bofur exclaimed from somewhere within the pile of rubble. However, he spoke too soon because as soon as he said those six words, the Goblin King - weighing a substantial amount - came slamming down on top of the pile.
"Youâve got to be joking!" Dwalin shouted as everyone began to blame Bofur and cry out in pain and discomfort. Near you, Kili managed to shimmy out from under some planks. He grunted as he sat up and looked around for you. He let out an audible sigh of relief when he saw that you werenât in as bad a condition as he feared. He reached his hand over to you and offered his help.
"Thank you," you groaned, trying to sound as appreciative as you could but you found it hard considering you were being squashed into jelly. You took his dirty hand with your own filthy one, and somehow Kili managed to pull you out from under the collapsed bridge.
"Iâm glad youâre okay," he grinned at you as the other dwarves began to free themselves. You said the same back to him. Suddenly, you heard loud cheering, screeching and squawking from above. Looking over, you stumbled back in shock when you saw hundreds if not thousands of goblins racing down a slope in your direction. Some of them brandished weapons such as swords and axes; some were shooting arrows; and some just had their hands as weapons, acting out of pure rage.
"Gandalf!" Kili screamed, making the wizard look over.
Dwalin looked over as well, âThereâs too many, we canât fight them!â he told him as he pulled Nori to his feet.
"Only one thing will save us," Gandalf shouted over the goblinsâ ruckus, "Daylight! Run! Here, on your feet!"
Hastily, you stumbled up onto your feet, gripping Kiliâs shirt and pulling him up too. You pushed him forwards, following straight behind, looking back every two seconds. As the goblins got closer, their aim became more precise and you found yourself in a tricky predicament, arrows biting at your ankles.
Looking back towards the goblin, you caught sight of one particular arrow that had been aimed at Kiliâs back. In a moment of haste, protectiveness and love, you threw yourself in the arrowâs path.
Since you were at the back of the company, no one noticed when the arrow struck your shoulder. You grunted out in pain, drawing blood when you bit your tongue to keep from screaming, and snapped off the shaft of the arrow, leaving the head buried in your flesh.
When everyone was finally far enough away from the goblin tunnels, you lowered yourself down onto a boulder. You were sweating and panting from the pain, you had paled quite a bit and you were shaking. Kili looked over at you, his face paling too when he saw your state.
"Y/N? What happened?" Kili asked, panicked, rushing over to you. He put a reassuring hand on your injured shoulder but pulled it away when he noticed your pain and felt the arrow head poking out of your shoulder.
"I saw the arrow, it was going to hit you. I couldnât just let you get hurt," you admitted, looking at the ground. Kiliâs expression hardened and he stood up stiffly and called for Oin.
Oin hissed as he spotted your wound, âOuch,â you nodded as his cold hands touched the now bare skin of your shoulder. He told you to brace yourself when he pulled out the arrow head, but you couldnât hold in the scream. Some of the dwarves were distressed to hear you, but some were too busy worrying about Bilbo.
Kili however, was angry, âWhy would you risk your life, Y/N?! What on Earth would possess you to do that?!â
You simply ignored him and glared at a tree ahead, Kili was fuming as he paced around and threw his head back in anger, âI canât believe you would risk you life for me! Itâs reckless, such a foolish thing to do!â
This time, you had had enough, âWhy? Why canât you believe that?! Do you not believe that I am a warm-hearted person? Am I not compassionate? Do you believe I do not care for you?â Kili looked a little taken a back at you, âBecause I do care for you, Kili, I care a great deal. Of course I would risk my life if it meant saving yours.â
"Iâm sorry, Y/N," Kili sighed after a long moment of silence when Oin packed up his medical supplies and finished bandaging you up, "Itâs just that I wouldnât be able to live with my self if you got hurt because of me."
"Itâs not your fault, Kili-"
"I wouldnât be able to live with myself if you got killed because of me!â Kili ranted, coming and crouching in front of you.
"I didnât believe that you cared that much for me," you admitted as he looked deeply into your eyes.
"I do, I wouldnât be able to live the guilt. But most of all, I wouldnât be able to live with the heart-break. I love you, Y/N, and if you lost your life to save mine, I wouldnât be able to live with myself for certain."
"Kili, oh my God!" you cried as you wrapped your arms around him, burying your head into his shoulder, "I love you too."

A/N: even though it's short, I hope it's what you wanted :)Â
The company chuckled as your embarrassingly high pitched giggles filled the clearing. Your laugh was easily distinguishable from the low booming of the dwarves, and no matter how many times they told you your laugh was cute, you always felt stupid when you laughed; it never stopped you, though.
Fili chuckled at you as he stood up from the floor where you had pushed him, pushing your shoulder playfully, but enough to make you lose balance. You stumbled backwards, trying to regain your footing, when your back collided with someone's body. "Easy there, soldier," the laughed as they caught you, placing you back on your feet easily.
You spun around, hair flying, to face Kili. Your eyes widened and your cheeks flushed red, you quickly cast your eyes downwards and fidgeted with your thumbs. You had liked Kili ever since your first encounter at Bag End, and since then you had barely had a conversation with him because you were incredibly nervous around him. It was as if every time he approached you, your voice box may as well not have been there at all.
Kili frowned at you, his eyebrows furrowing in a way that made him look like a child who had been denied treats. A giggle built up in your throat as you glanced up at him quickly through your eyelashes. Luckily, Kili tore his hands - which were placed on your shoulders - from you and stormed into the forest and to the river to wash. Before long, the other dwarves followed.
You now had time to yourself, and you sighed as you flopped yourself down onto the bedroll - which you had set up earlier - without any intention of resting until the dwarves returned. You lay there for a few minutes, gazing up at the stars and admiring the constellations, when a sound from the bushes made you sit up.
You scrutinised the bushes until out burst Kili, his shoulder length hair dripping at the ends and water droplets glistening on his cheeks and neck. Your breathing became heavier and your heart's beating became erratic as he strode over to you. By the sounds of the rowdy dwarves' shouting, you assumed that Kili was back long before the others would even consider returning.
You stood up quickly, straightening your clothes, with an intent to greet him for once instead of nodding timidly. As you opened your mouth to speak, Kili came right up in your face and his cold eyes glared into yours. He had had enough of your behaviour and wanted an explanation, "Why do you always ignore me?!" he spoke harshly, yet you could still here the soft undertone, as if he didn't really want to speak to you this way.
You tried to speak, but all that came out was a minute squeak. Kili's eyes softened as did his voice as spoke once more, "Why do you always act like this around me?" his voice sounded sad, as if he was a child who had broken his favourite toy.
"Like what?" you whispered so quietly you could barely hear it yourself. You were incredibly surprised to learn that he had heard you.
"Like this! You always hide your face from me and play with your thumbs. Pray tell me why you have said a total of three words to me in these months that we have known each other?" Kili ranted.
You felt guilty, what had you been thinking to be so selfish? All this time poor Kili must have been thinking you resented him for some reason. He deserved to know, you knew that, but you just couldn't bring yourself to tell him why you acted like this. Swallowing your nerves, you shut your eyes, counted to ten before opening them and said, "Because I like you . . ."
You didn't finish the sentence or elaborate any further because you simply didn't need to. Kili had understood clearly.
"You like me?" he asked, his voice hopeful and eyes sparkling. He didn't believe you, how could any self-respecting maiden have romantic feelings for a beardless dwarf?
You nodded, meeting his eyes and holding a gaze for the first time since you had met him. You noticed that they were the most exotic shade of hazel, "B-but how? Why me? I have no beard!" he stressed.
You giggled, suddenly gaining confidence - even if it was temporary - and caressed his stubble, "Maybe," you smiled, "but you do have stubble that makes you look so, so- I don't know, good looki- I mean manly!" you stumbled over your words, not meaning to call him good-looking even though you meant it.
Kili smiled warmly at you before taking a hold of your hand and placing it on his chest, slightly off centre. "You feel this?" he asked, referring to his heart, "Do you feel how my heart beats?" you nodded, having absolutely no idea where he was going with this, "Each and every beat is for you, Y/N. I've been entranced by you ever since the very first moment I saw you," he confessed. Your eyes widened and the nerves slowly find their way back to you. After all this time, he liked you back.Â
Suddenly, you regretted all the times you had turned your back to him or looked away. You cast away the nerves, and grinned up at him. "After all this time?"
