Imagine all the Hale kids plus their cousins all at the park and kid stiles is there playing with kid Cora and her cousins then they make Derek play with them. Derek is classic middle child. Heâs older than the little kids but younger than Laura and the other cousins. Stiles absolutely loves playing with Derek. Sometimes itâs hard to keep up with the werewolf kids and even the human ones too but Derek stays behind with stiles until he catches up. Then when itâs time to leave Talia calls over the kids with a loud whistle (lol my mom actually does this) and all the kids all start herding back to the car, including stiles who is just following along. It takes Talia when theyâre half way home to realize that she took an extra kid with her, she didnât even smell him cause theyâve all been rolling around him all day. Good thing she knows Claudia so she wonât be too freaked out.
She gets half way home and realises thereâs 11 heartbeats in the back seat when there should only be 10 (I know, what car fits 11 kids, weâll, theyâre small and children - especially werewolf pups - have no regards for safety). She pulls over and turns around to see stiles sitting between Cora and Derek with a big smile on his face.
I like to think that Talia, Noah and Claudia grew up around the same time and know each other well, or maybe Peter caused a lot of trouble growing up and Noah was a new deputy that often had to deal with him (like Parrish with Stiles), so she knows Stiles and just drives him home. Chances are, Stiles snuck out of the house to go play at the park in the first place.

Not your circus: not your monkey by Jmeelee // 2.5k // General // @jmeeleeââ
It started the year Stilesâ mom forced him to perform onstage at the Polish Community Center, and Derek Hale threatened to rip Jackson Whittemoreâs throat out with his teeth.
Note: This is a lovely fic featuring Stiles and Derek meeting when theyâre kids. Derek deserves the world!

Stiles swallowed hard against het lump in his throat, his stomach twisting nauseatingly. He drew in deep, measured breaths, trying to calm his racing heartbeat.
He looked across the kitchen to where Derek stood behind the glossy steel counter of the opposing kitchenette.
The older boy offered him a reassuring smile.
âCongratulations to the two of you for making it this far,â Joe said. âYou have proven time and time again that you have what it takes to be Masterchefs, but sadly, only one of you can be the winner of this competition.â
âEvery single one of you has shown so much talent and integrity, you should all be proud of yourselves for making it as far as you did int his competition,â Graham said, addressing both Stiles and Derek and the rows of eliminated contestants that were lined up on the balcony, watching them. âNot only have you shown how incredible you can be in the kitchen, but youâve shown compassion and selflessness when helping other contestants.â
Stiles looked up at Isaac.
The boy stood next to Boyd and Erica, standing on a milk crate so that he could see over the railing. His hair was still a halo of messy sandy-blonde curls, his shimmering sapphire eyes meeting Stilesâ as a bright smile lit his face.
Stiles smiled back before looking at Erica, who smiled at him too.
âYou truly are two amazing kids,â Gordon said, a small smile lifting the corners of his lips. âYou have astounded us, time and time again. Not only with your cooking, but with your actions. And no matter who wins the finale, youâre both winners to us.â
âAre you ready to get started?â Joe asked.
Stiles and Derek both nodded.
âYour final challenge,â Joe started, âis to cook a three-course meal in two hours; appetiser, main, and desert.â
Stiles swallowed hard.
âTry to balance your flavours and consider the density of each course in relation to the next,â Graham suggested. âYou donât want a dense appetiser followed by a dense main.â
âYou have two hours,â Joe said. âStarting⊠now.â
The two of them sprinted towards the pantry, each grabbing a metal basket and stacking their ingredients inside. They hurried back to the kitchenettes and began to prep their meals.
After a while, Gordon walked over to the two benches, watching what they were doing. He stopped in front of Stilesâ bench and asked, âWhat are you making, Stiles?â
âIâm making shredded beef sliders for an appetiser, a vegetarian lasagna with eggplant and capsicum for the main, and a black forest berry cake for desert,â Derek said.
âWow. You two really know what youâre doing,â Gordon complimented. âI canât wait to taste these when theyâre done.â
A short while later, Stiles saw Derek frantically searching his bench for something. He moved the bowls around, checking shelves and under other ingredients.
âWhat are you looking for?â Stiles called out to him.
âEggs,â Derek replied. âI swear I grabbed them.â
âHow many do you need?â Stiles asked, setting down the knife he was using to slice the wonton sheets for the Rangoon.
âThree,â Derek answered.
âHere,â Stiles said, opening up the carton of eggs he had on the counter.
Derek held out his hands, ready to catch them.
âReally?â Stiles asked.
âYeah.â
âFine,â Stiles said. âBut if you drop them, itâs your fault. Oneââ
He tossed the egg to Derek.
Derek caught it, setting it aside in an empty bowl as Stiles counted and tossed the next one.
âTwo.â
Another catch.
âThree.â
Derek caught the egg, setting it aside.
âThank you,â he called to Stiles as he turned back to his bench and set to work.
The kids who watched on from the balcony applauded them.
On the podium, Gordon blinked in surprise.
âTheyâre so in sync,â he said, shocked.
âCan you imagine them doing that in a few yearsâ time when they inevitably end up together?â Graham remarked.
The comment made Gordon smile.
Time seemed to fly by as Stiles and Derek set to work, putting their meals together and cooking them. Before they knew it, Joe gave them a ten-minute warning to finish their dishes and plate up.
The voices echoed about the room as everyone began to count down.
âFive... Four... Three... Two... One.â
âTimeâs up,â Joe announced.
Stiles and Derek stepped back from their benches.
Stiles practically collapsed on the floor.
âDerek,â Graham called. âCould you please bring your dishes to the front of the room?â
Derek did, setting his dishes down on the table before the judges.
âRemind us again, what did you cook?â Joe prompted.
âI made shredded beef sliders for the appetiser, a vegetarian lasagna with eggplant and capsicum for the main, and a black forest berry cake for desert,â Derek answered.
One by one, the judges tasted the dishes, nodding thoughtfully.
âI like the way you balanced the density with the dishes,â Graham said. âYou gave us a moderately heavy appetiser that was full of flavour, then a light main, and a moderately heavy desert to finish it off.â
âI agree,â Gordon said. âI especially love how you balanced the flavours; none of it was bland, and none of it was overpowering. And that black forest berry cake was divine. I was surprised at how light it was. Usually black forest berry cakes are dense and rich. But that was just perfect.â
âThank you, Derek. You can go back to your bench.â
Derek thanked them and returned to the small kitchenette.
âGood job,â Stiles whispered to him.
âThank you.â
âStiles,â Gordon called. âCan you please bring your dishes to the front?â
Stiles did, setting the plates down on the table and taking a step back. He balled his hands into fists at his sides, his racing heart hammering in his chest.
The judges took their time tasting the dishes, nodding thoughtfully as they savoured each mouthful.
âThe Rangoon was perfect,â Graham said. âIt was golden and had the perfect amount of crunch to it. The beef rib was full of flavour and dense enough to feel like a main meal while also being light enough that it didnât make you feel weighed down. And served with those sweet potato chips it was delicious.â
âDo you want to try it?â Stiles asked, picking up a small spoon and ne of the extra deserts he had plated up.
Derek offered him a plate of black forest berry cake.
âThat looks so good,â Stiles said, digging into it with a teaspoon.
There was a quiet echo of laughter throughout the room as others watched the two of them lean over the bench, snacking on the deserts.
âOh my god, thatâs delicious,â Stiles said.
âThis is incredible,â Derek said, licking the cream off his lips.
He judges looked up, unable to hide their smiles when the boys set down the deserts and smiled mischievously.
âStiles, Derek, please come down to the front of the room.â
They set down the deserts and made their way to the podium.
Stiles felt his throat tighten. His heart hammered against his ribs.
They stood side by side, close enough that Derek could reach out slightly and brush his hand against Stilesâ reassuringly.
âBelieve us when we say that this is the hardest competition weâve ever had to judge,â Gordon said. âThe two of you have risen to every challenge, youâve brought incredible dishes to the table time and time again. You have both made your families proud and I hope that youâre both proud of yourselves.â
âBut sadly, there can only be one winner.â Joe paused, letting the heavy silence settle over them. âAnd that winner won by a hairâs breadth.â
There was another intense pause.
Stiles held his breath.
âStilesâŠâ
He met Joeâs gaze, trying to read his thoughts.
âYou are the winner of this yearâs competition.â
The room erupted in applause.
Derek turned, pulling Stiles into his arms and holding him tight.
Stiles hugged him back, feeling relief flood over him.
Slivers of golden confetti rained down around them.
Tears welled in his eyes as he drew back, his face flushed red. He turned and looked up at where his Dad stood, watching him from the balcony with eyes full of pride.
Stiles turned and looked at Derek.
Derek smiled back at him, his pale aventurine eyes full of joy.
âCongratulations,â Gordon said. âBoth of you.â
Imagine kid Derek running around with his werewolf teeth cause he can control his shift and he has a lisp and his canine teeth are sharp. But his teeth are still small cause heâs still a child so no one really questions it cause it still looks sort of normal.
Derek is still trying to figure out what to do about this when a woman's frantic voice comes down the aisle. "Baby, baby, babyâno kick. Iâm so sorry. Itâs a thing lately." She waggles a finger at her son. "We donât kick."

âAnd,â Bat Kid sniffles, âa werewolf stole my candy, mommy â a werewolf!â
or: Three Halloweens from Derek's perspective. Past, Present, Future.
Note: I really love the idea in this fic. The 'past' segment is so cute I nearly cried, the âpresentâ one expands on the scene where Derek scares those trick-or-treating kids in the show, and the âfutureâ one is how they get together. I liked this a lot!
