This is a super indulgent project for me, so I'll be posting things regarding the story here. I tend to try and match where the series is, but I don't mind answering questions about the story in case anyone is interested!

He's lighthearted naturally, has shown to get angry in his voicelines, and there's a passion in him that he wants something bigger than a dead end job.

(Cough cough.)

I say secret romantic by the way, because he's always covering up proof of it! He puts so much of himself into any kind of bond, but romantic ones take the cake.

CHARLIE. I LOVE HER. Immediately adds her to my GH(OaC) Theory.

I'm building her up in my mind as a perky/pastel goth, because one doesn't go through a lot on the streets and gets taken in by a really hecking creepy circus and is okay about it!

I hope to the Stars above that she gets the creepy voicelines she deserves.

She's also a big fan of comic books. I bet she enjoys the escapism! Totally getting this brawl pass!

I really love this skin but too rich for my blood, especially since I want Cobra Lola, Dark Clown Sam and Not-Witch Shelly. Maybe even Leon. I guess top hats do come with a price. 😔

Side note, in the brawl talk matches, they had Shelly and Fang on the same team, and Byron, Belle and Piper on the same team. And that just makes me happy, lol.

I love the trend that continues with Shelly giving her pets non-creative names, btw. I also love that Fang and Shelly's animation goes well together, and they both hold something out with their hand/foot simultaneously. Kickshots ♡

PIGGY PIGGY

It's not the Piggy Lola Skin I was hoping for, but I love it nonetheless! I have so much love for piggy banks, y'all don't even know. Now I get to have another one in-game!

Oh, yeah! And Byron! I cant say I'm fond of the colors, and I feel like they should have incorporated an animal more. Like. A spider? Or... something idk. Maybe it should have been Gray. His brother.

My next Byron skin I buy is still going to be Overlord.

Overall though I'm SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS SEASON

I ♡ Charlie and while the Hypercharges this time are cool, I won't be collecting the bundles for anyone. Maybe just Colette's Hypercharge.

Finally! I decided to just bite it and upload the first chapter instead of making little edits here and there. (Thanks, Bestie, for the encouragement of "yes" when I asked if I should just go ahead and publish it, lol.)

The title is based on the term "Blood runs cold" and, of course, refers to Shelly's calculated plan that involves retreating to get Jacky alone for a one on one fight, which unfortunately leads to her being frozen solid, because Jacky was not alone after all. Shelly was never afraid of her, but that doesn't guarantee victory.

Invoking hot and cold was interesting to play around with in this chapter, from the sun setting, to Mike and Gale, to Jacky's flames lighting up the usually stifling, but now night-chilled town, to the Desert Princess being defeated by an Ice spell.

Jacky's introduction was really fun to write. She's a powerful Queen and obviously, I based her off of Bowser's role. Now, I get that the first scene in the Mario movie is meant to be silly, but I wanted her to be imposing and not just a petty bully right off the bat. (Though, we'll be able to dig into why she's doing all of this later!)

Also, while the Invincibility Star was focused on, it's not the only thing she was after.

Lastly, she retains the Royal Koopa stature that Bowser has. Her design is mixed with Ultra Driller Jacky, with a blue shell and silver spikes. Once I'm happy with a doodle of her, I'll happily load it sometime.

Princess Shelly was always going to be a Dryite, although they're not just wrapped up versions of Toads. (They may not be Toads, but they've always felt that way to me.) I am seeing them as slightly rock/earth based people, so they're sturdier and stronger than the average being in Wanderland. While she is based on the Princess Shelly skin (lol), I am still playing around with a few elements from her Sands of Time skin. (Basically, only the mask due to covering up for the sand). However, her outfit won't be given much importance anyway, so I'm not too worried about it.

Technically, she's based off of Daisy due to the desert kingdom she runs for the time being, plus being the secondary Princess. Funnily enough, endgame ship will be Fang/Shelly. It'll be more obvious as time goes on that this isn't 1:1 to the Mario movie/series.

This story is what made me start shipping Kickshots so much, though, so I hope I can let you guys see my vision through my writing.

I really liked this chapter! I listened to a few songs to get the tone right in this one. From Jacky's angered retaliation to Shelly's general mindset of being an action girl, but realizing she's bitten off more than she could chew here. Not that she'd ever admit it to the bitter end.

Oh hell yeah! I was working through the list for my otps already, but this definitely helps with motivation to post~

What is their height difference? Age difference? Do either matter to them?

While I don't think too hard about exact measurements i do see them as roughly the same height, with either having the potential to be slightly taller. maybe they're in the 5'6-5'8/167-173 cm range. of course, it also depends on the au, because sometimes they're different species, or some other factor.

Their age difference! It's not terribly big, but i do imagine Shelly as older. At his debut, Fang struck me as 24, because young adult who wants more now but is stuck in his job when he knows he can be so much more. (also if he was born in the Year of the Tiger, 24 makes more sense than 12 or 36.. or more lol) Shelly feels more grounded and set in her career. so 28? Again, ages vary through stories, but I think Shelly is older. (by weeks, or months or years, it doesn't matter. she'll just always be older, lol.)

Neither matters to them!

How do their personalities complement each other? How do they clash?

I feel like it's important to note that they both have a strong sense of competition. They strive to win, and get better and improve. Be it fighting, sports, their respective careers- acting and being a ranger.

Shelly seems to have a sense of more responsibility. From what little we see of her house, she washes laundry and hangs it up to dry, and she also has a whole little corner for her pet cat. In contrast with Fang's room, which is a little messy, but he's got notes and a marked calendar. He strikes me as the kind of guy who picks up his mess all at once and keeps it clean for a while, before he gets careless (and hangs out with friends) and it gets messy again. (It was movie night!)

Shelly's also focused on winning, and gets annoyed with unnecessary flashiness that can cost the win. She's not above teaming to get something she wants, lol. Fang left work to participate in a tournament because he was tired of it. He gives it his all and goes for the finishing blow.

That said, I feel like they're all for hard work and victories. Though when it comes to losing, Shelly definitely is a more sore loser. She's more frustrated and mad, while Fang is more lighthearted about it. Her stubborn anger is a contrast to his fire though. Because when Fang actually gets mad, he is mad. Hothead, basically. Completely biased against the person/thing he's upset with.

They wouldn't belittle the situation the other is upset over, but they'll try reasoning them down. It could take days, or more.

They're totally a battle couple, too.

I think they usually do complement more than clash but it's usually small details that they'd disagree about-- about Kit, about schedules, about things that's really more trivial than anything really. They're both types who don't takes things too seriously if you're honest about stuff, really.
