i was thinking too about the role that darkness and light had in the societies of kingdom hearts, or how kh societies and how keyblade is used, and the thing that still tricks me is that it can be a mirror image of how modern society evolved in time at a point where literally i can't unsee it. *especially* after dark road
the way death is treated, the way old people try to teach how wielding the keyblade (or just plain exploitation of child labor in χ-saga
or the phrase "nor just light, not just darkness"... is a reflection of extremism of real societies though times, and the way someone is treated after darkness is unleashed in an individual like... the polarisation of opinions, the inevitability of change in this world (yes that young xehanort phrase when eraqus was perplexed for vor still sticks into my mind bc even if it seems obvious, it's just not, especially in their and our society)
