Fallout 76, now with authentic Fallout-brand ingredients! Really, it’s good now!
How long the honeymoon lasts remains to be seen, but I’m enjoying my time in Appalachia. The above video pretty much sums up my feelings on it, and as a newcomer, I’ve only seen the tiniest fraction of the content thus far.
It ain’t perfect, and it still isn’t for everyone, but for just a single example of how much care has gone into this release, they combined the best elements of Fallout 3 & NV’s dialog system (a silent protagonist, as many choices as the writers want and frequent stat checks) along with the few good parts of 4′s (the ability to move the camera around freely and to walk away from chat at any time). They also added a history option, which is something no other title in the franchise has, so they improved upon it on top of that. It’s literally the best system in the whole series now, amazingly enough. And this coming from a game that had NO dialog interface at all before!
I’m only 76 hours in (heh), but I agree with the sentiments of the linked vid, and it’s not spoiling anything, so check it out and see what you think. Oh, and no crashes yet either!
