I have a worgen belf too! Tho... I don't know if it's actually possible for a belf to be a worgen. I just like belves, and I like worgens, so combine the two! I don't make it well known tho because I'm scared people might make fun of me for it :[ Do people ever give you a hard time about your worgen belf?
Iāve never been made fun of for it but yeah I know it gets kinda weird trying to explain non-gilnean/human/kaldorei worgen. Ā Lore says the curse can only be contracted by humans and night elves, but like..Ā
hear me out
WoW biology is ridiculous and made-up anyway, itās a HUUUUGE impossible mess. Ā For example, itās totally canon that completely different species (FROM DIFFERENT PLANETS EVEN) can create healthy offspring (yooo Garona, Medan, Arator, etc etc etc). Ā Itās totally canon that rocks, actual ROCKS, are the literal ancestors of flesh and blood races, like.. gosh all of this crap is BANANAS.Ā
So letās look at the limits of this curse: it only effects human and night elves right?
Well
High/blood elves and to a lesser extent night elves were descended from ancient highborne, and all elves were descended from trolls. Ā Humans were descended from vrykul, one of many titan-made races afflicted by the curse of the flesh.
If we bend our imaginary biology just a little bit more, we could say the same blood markers in night elves and humans that make them susceptible to the curse are ALSO present in other elves and possibly other humanoids. Ā
Other elves and humanoids might be RESISTANT to the curse, maybe even highly resistant, BUT the possibility of infection still exists.
And if no one buys that explanation then guess what itās muthafuckinā magic yall DONT LET YOUR RP DREAMS BE DREAMS Ā *:ć»ļ¾ā§
Personally I love tying my chars to main events/having them heavy involved in lore but I can def understand why some would shy away from it :u Anyways do you think talking to Kethas more may help Leon get over his wolf fear?
MAYBE. Leon disliked Kethas as an elf and now he has even more reasons to dislike him as a worgen lmao. Ā Their relationship in the priesthood was complicated because even though they both belonged to the same faith they had very different opinions about the Light itself and how to use it proper. Ā
Leon believes the Light can exist and perpetuate itself free from Shadow, that faith in the Light is all thatās needed. Ā
Kethas believes the Light and Shadow are equal parts of the same power and one is necessary for the other to exist. Ā He believes the Lightās full potential canāt be reached without also recognizing and reaching for the Shadow.
It makes sense that Leon prefers to see the Light by itself without the Shadow because heās a sensitive boy and drawing on shadow magic makes him kinda sick. Ā Kethas is that lowkey annoying know-it-all dude who wants Leon to know the āLight doesnāt NEED Shadowā idea is Definitely Wrong and Leon is limiting himself by ignoring the Shadow, gosh. Ā Leon doesnāt like to argue but he definitely argued with Kethas enough in their Silvermoon days that he just plain doesnāt like the guy. Ā Since heās Leon he is polite to Kethas, of course, but he definitely avoided him when he could. Ā āUgh, that guy..ā
When Kethas left Silvermoon sometime after the scourge invasion Leon never heard from him again. Ā During Cataclysm, Leon received evidence suggesting Kethas was actually dead and he did mourn for him, not specifically because he liked him but because yet one more person Leon used to know was gone.
So, finding out that Kethas was not actually dead and (perhaps worse) was now a horrible wolf creature put Leon in quite a difficult spot. Ā Itās not easy for him, but he does start talking to Kethas again in part because Leon doesnāt know many other priests in the temple, and he hopes maybe the last few difficult years have made Kethas more bearable. Ā Kethas lives a very lonely life between two factions that donāt trust what he is, so finding someone who knew him as an elf means the world to him. Ā He tries a little harder not to piss off Leon lol. Ā
As long as things move slowly, becoming friends with Kethas might help lessen Leonās fear of worgen (he is still terrified of actual wolves though).Ā
