Bei der Balteschwiler AG wurden die Rippen aus Furnierschichtholzplatten (LVL, mit dem Produktnamen Kerto) ausgefräst und einem vereinfachten Biegetest unterzogen.
Furnierschichtholz (LVL) ist einer der stabilsten Holzwerkstoffen, der in einer Vielzahl von Anwendungen im Hoch- und Brückenbau eingesetzt wird. LVL-Platten und -Balken haben sich aufgrund ihrer zahlreichen Vorteile, ihrer Vielseitigkeit und ihrer bewährten statischen Eigenschaften als wesentliche Komponenten im modernen Holzbau etabliert. Designed to blend into the surrounding scenery, a unique roof construction of the new dining hall is the centrepiece of the regional college in Schwäbisch Gmünd. Visitors see a suspended roof, which is perfectly integrated into the landscape. When completed in March 2019, Mjøsa Tower in the Norwegian town of Brumunddal will be the world’s tallest wooden building. The construction, which started in early April this year, is an example of how wood can be substituted for concrete, which is considerably heavier and less environmentally-friendly.
