Can we talk about how Love Hina is a great introductory Harem Manga?
If you're an awkward teen, who bumbles and stumbles around girls or if you're cool teen who just likes a laugh, you might enjoy Love Hina. I think it's a great show, and looking back it's much more innocent than I remembered. Sure it has the typical Anime Trope type awkward vibe that is appealing to an audience of that age range, but there is a kindness to the story that a lot of people enjoy.
In truth it's an interesting concept. A Ronin (a high school grad who is studying for the test to get into college) has to live in an Inn owned by his older relative. So he becomes the caretake for an all girls living situation. It's one of those 'yeah-right' premises that guys dream up but that was the genre at the time. The Harem genre in general is an interesting thing because it's the fantasy of a lot of guys to want more girls, just as it is a fantasy for many young ladies to want to choose between 2 guys. We see these bits played out again and again in stories and I think Love Hina is one I can look back on with fondness.
Now this show works best is your more optimistic, so my older cynical mind probably won't get as much out of it as I used to, but if you're still wide eyed and curious, look up Love Hina. I don't want to say too much as I think it's a great/fun ride.
