HELLO!!! Finally getting around to answering this,, sorry for the late response I was asleep 😭😭

Okay so the curling world, especially internationally, is pretty small so it's always the same teams going up against each other at every event. So Marc Kennedy and Oskar Eriksson have known each other for YEARS, I'd say like around 10+ maybe?? And they are both really good, so they've probably played each other hundreds of times, so they've got that rivalry. Marc has said that they would kinda chirp each other a bit and have like friendly banter on the ice, which you can see when you watch past games of them.

Fast forward to the Olympics this year, when they had that pretty viral argument about touching the rock, the media got all over it saying it was a "heated" argument (so like... if you get what I mean there hehe...), and whatever sort of relationship they had pretty much broke down there. Like in this other event that happened later, the guys on the Canadian team were pretty much giving the guys on the Swedish team the silent treatment 😭😭

Also because of that arguement blowing up so much everywhere, people (including me) were saying stuff like "its toxic yaoi" and starting to ship them, there's this one acc on tiktok @/teamkenriksson that makes all these edits of them and they have a bunch with heated rivalry sounds (and they're still actively posting), and so its kinda like they had that rivalry before, it blew up at the olympics, and now we're witnessing the breakup and lowkey the yearning (this is getting into my hcs LMAO) so we've got like the toxic relationship, as well as the internal conflict (which is in one of the fics I'm writing) because of everything that happened in the olympics - and like because they've known each other so long, that breakup had to HURTT like they're still thinking about each other for sure jfjfkfkd

Also some other stuff, Marc and Oskar are actually pretty similar in a bunch of ways: They're both left handed (and they were the only lefties curling at the olympics this year excluding Team Canada's alternate), and they both play(ed) the same position so they usually end up in the same place when they're playing each other which is why they usually have that friendly banter fjfjfkfk

Anyways that's all I can think of right now, but I'm actively in the comments of all those ship edits, like its always me there 😭😭 lmk if you wanna hear my headcanons (? is that what theyre called in rpf) etc. cos I'm writing two fics atm which I can hopefully post soon after I'm done with my exams fjjfkgkf I love my curlers and their relationship

Longfic

Oneshot

I've got chapter 1 of the longfic done, however it's really messy bc I actually started it as a joke like a couple days after boopgate happened and it was originally going to be a oneshot as well. Then I started adding actual content to it so I need to fix things up before I'm happy to post it. Also that first chapter is basically pure smut with almost no plot (like I said before, it was originally a oneshot) and for my first ao3 post I wanted to post something with a bit more stuff iykwim... but maybe I'll post something if I don't get the oneshot done soon???

Writing progress for that one is I'm almost done with the second chapter, planning out the third in my head. I'm basically jumping into that with no planning and just like ideas in my head (again, originally a oneshot) so I'm just going where the wind takes me 😭😭

For the oneshot, that one is maybe a little less than halfway done? I do my writing at like 1-2am so it gets slow sometimes... but its a softer kind of fic, doesn't have smut or anything but a little suggestive, and that's the one I wanna post first so I've been actively working on it and planned a little more how I want it to go 🤭🤭 maybe I'll have a good writing day and get the bulk of it done soon but I'm excited about it so hfjfkfk

I know before I said there were 3 fics, 2 oneshots 1 longfic but the other oneshot I kinda lost motivation to write cos it was kinda similar to the longfic so I just decided to take the other oneshot idea further (this was the one I posted about at like 3am) so that one I'm more excited about anyways!!
