I finally received the 1:6 DamToys body I purchased loose/parted-out, for my Ken Looks number-5 repaint. I was hoping I would be able to get him a Leon S. Kennedy one, I waited forever to see one anywhere, before I lost all hope, so I just got this one from a parted âEuropean s0ldierâ from DamToys line of m1litary figures. I wanted the Leon one, because the paint on the upper torso matches perfectly with my repainted Ken. However, this one is not painted as red-toned as Leonâs upper body. There is some paint, but it leans more towards the average âgrey-tonedâ skin most 1:6 action figures suffer from. Itâs super hard to tell from my crappy photos (I was too lazy to use my hyper-bright desk lamp, so these are super dark). My phoneâs camera had a terrible time adjusting the colors at all, because my desk is red-ish faux wood, the head sculpt is very tanned-red-toned, and the body also has a heavy tanned tone with varying degrees of gray and the middle abdomen a red-tone that actually matches my Ken pretty close.Â
It makes me wonder exactly how people assembling these bodies go about picking which piece goes where. Iâm not criticizing them by any means, just wondering why they chose to give this specifically mostly grey-toned body a reddish toned middle abdomen piece, when they gave Leonâs body, that has a reddish-toned upper torso a grey-toned middle abdomen. DXÂ
Iâm going to give the upper torso piece a light layer of âtextureâ with acrylics, to give the whole action hybrid doll, a better match. Otherwise, I am pretty happy with the proportions. I wish the head was much smaller, Ken has a larger head than most 1:6 male head sculpts I own, which tend to be more or less âstandardâ size (for 1:6 action figures). I just prefer smaller headed toys in general. The head doesnât look as massively large, as it appears in the last photo, thatâs just me sucking at taking photos and some camera angle/distortion.
This body didnât come to me with hands, which I already knew when I purchased it (kind of a thing when you buy parted out action figure bodies), but it did come with feet, which is pretty cool -- one less thing to worry about. Although, itâs not really a necessity with most 1:6 action figures. Because this body came without hands, I was trying my WorldBox set of eight pairs of hands that I purchased for my one WB figure I own. I was pleasantly surprised they are beautifully shaded, and the nails are also realistically painted and glossed! I donât believe the beautiful detail shows well at all on any of these photos, but I am super happy I decided to purchase these, when I already own too many spare 1:6 action figure hands, and I certainly didnât need any more of them. lol! They are much nicer done, than the GT, not the sculpt, but the shaded/painted details is much, much nicer (what I was hoping the GT hands would look like). They are sadly too grey and a bit too dark for this dude, thank goodness I hoard hands too -- I might have a pair that works. Otherwise, gloved hands it is. ^___^;;
