Happy birthday to Dave! If Life could write, Life would write like him, and I have a very good feeling we’ll get more of his writing in this upcoming year. Whether it be a new show, or a revival/transfer of an old one, or both, I know that 2023 will be the year of Malloysicals. (I mean, we already know that space//space by Banana Bag and Bodice is getting a film adaptation later this month, so I know we will at bare minimum get some representation of his experimental journeyman era. ❤️🚀) I owe so much to Dave. He keeps me sane (but also insane) and gives me so much motivation. He reminds me that it’s okay, good even, to be weird with my creations. Where else will you find a brilliant genius composer who says “yeah, it’s okay not to rhyme”?
And happy birthday to Kennedy Caughell too! I never got to see her perform, sadly, but I know she’s a Malloysical alumna and fucking amazing. ❤️ I hope her and Dave both have amazing days. Maybe at some point I’ll get to see them play Hélène and Pierre together…
“During the pandemic that has left Broadway shuttered since March 12, 2020, Larkin and Lewis found new ways to satisfy their creativity. For Lewis, that meant branching out into music producing. "I heard his stuff, and it's all incredible, and I was like, 'What if I gave you a musical theater song to turn into a dance remix?'" Larkin said. "One of the songs that came to mind that always sounded like a pop song was 'Ready to be Loved.' I asked if he could turn it into a gay anthem. It's more so a general love anthem, but it also has that self-discovery of deserving love, which I think resonates with a lot of queer people." - You guys HAVE to listen to this + there are some familiar faces in there.

Casting Goals: Evita
Okay before ya’ll start calling for my head on a spike please read this: Argentina is 96.7% white and I’m just sick and tired of hearing about people claiming Evita is white washed when Argentina is a mostly white country. Therefore casting Eva as white woman would be more historically accurate. But for me when it comes to Evita one of the most difficult scores known to man you have to cast based on talent first. I fought back and forth between Chelsea Emma Franko, Emmy Raver-Lampman and Nicole Scherzinger as Eva and at the end of the day the one who kept going through my mind was Chelsea. I’m sure I’m gonna get so many comments calling me racist and what not, but bring it on.
