This one of The Icon Series paintings which will at @lapada_association in September with @lindablackstonegallery - I was pleased when Linda suggested I make some of my Icon Series for the show. I like using images that have a narrative, but then ignoring their narrative and just organising them compositionally. Then when done you see a narrative you hadn’t planned appearing. It’s a sort of similar ethic that I was discussing in the #kenkiff film I made. How he never wanted to make illustrational paintings, although he made works with a narrative he wanted the chaos of the paint to remain in charge. I want these paintings to have that same vibe.
