The 1,400 workers on strike against Kelloggâs since Oct. 5 are fighting for all workers. Members of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union (BCTGM) are battling the companyâs two-tier system of wages and benefits.
The cereal killers who run Kelloggâs donât believe in equal pay for equal work. Newly hired workers â called âtransitional employeesâ by the company â are paid around $12 dollars less per hour than âregularâ full-time workers but have to pay more for health insurance. Forget about pensions.
