Crying. That was the first thing Belle heard when she woke up next to her boyfriend of five months.

How long had it been since Kellen went deaf? She would have guessed around eight months.

"Kellen." She shook his shoulder. "Kellen, what's wrong?"

Finally he sat up, tears welling up in those blue eyes Belle always loved. "Nightmares." He shakily signed. Kellen had finally gotten the hang of sign language thanks to his best friend's mute older brother.

"About?" She signed back, mouthing it as well so he could read her lips.

He sniffled, and signed, "The torture."

Back when he was still the supervillain Funtime, he had been kidnapped and forced to listen to his older brother Michael being tortured, then subjected to deafening sounds over and over. Belle knew that even if his hearing was ruined, he still would never shake his brother's screams of pain knowing he couldn't help him.

Belle hugged him tightly, petting his purple and white hair.
