Posted @withregram β’ @northforkstudios Fantastic news today that the proposed Pebble Mine was denied a permit under section 404 (c) of the Clean Water Act from the Army Corp. This past summer I had the privilege to spend a week up in Alaska and my friends at Alaska Trophy Adventure flew me over the proposed Pebble mine site to hang out the cessna 182 and do some filming, our team had spoken to several major news outlets about producing a news piece around Pebble and we had no idea which way this saga was headed and it has remained strangely quiet since our trip so today was a major surprise and relief. It was disheartening to see first hand the proposed mine site and how it was directly positioned at the headwaters of tributaries that enter the Nushagak, the largest wild king salmon run left on earth ! On the other side of the mine are the headwaters of several rivers and streams that enter Lake Iliamna , the largest lake in Alaska and home to the largest sockeye run on earth. I was blown away by my experience in the Bristol region and could not believe that anyone would put at risk such a sacred place. We can all sleep a little better tonight and have some faith in humankind. I am thankful that there is a spot left on on this planet where you can literally go back in time to a place where the wild reigns and you are just a vulnerable visitor. Thanks Wayne, Jacob and the ATA crew for hosting us. I'm looking forward to diving into all the incredible footage we shot. Did I mention we showed up with over 20 pieces of luggage full of camera gear. #keepthewildwild #nopebblemine #bristolbay #alaska #atalodge #alaskatrophyadventure #swiftwaterfilms (at Alaska Trophy Adventures Lodge, Alagnak River, Bristol Bay, Alaska) https://www.instagram.com/p/CICeLfujnHs/?igshid=vzcnq0ohj671
