ok so the one that got away is basically, like, eddie comes home after being away for x number of years and runs into chrissy at a bar or something and finds out that she's engaged, which... isn't that surprising. in this au they dated in high school but he broke things off for reasons i haven't quite figured out yet but it wasn't because there weren't still feelings (which are definitely still there for both of them in present day) and they have a bit of a toxic relationship through the fic because they keep hooking up even though she's literally getting married in x number of weeks 😅
i actually started writing the married exes au a while back (but i haven't gotten very far) and it's similar to the previous idea in that chrissy and eddie got together in high school but after graduation they moved out to LA for eddie's music career and ended up getting married bc they're young, dumb, and in love. fast forward 10 years, chrissy gets proposed to by her current partner (henry) and has to admit that not only has she been married before, they never got divorced.
omg the white knight au is so cute!!! so one afternoon eddie gets a phone call and thinks at first it's a prank but it turns out to be chrissy on the other end who's been abandoned at a rest stop on the highway by jason, and she tried calling one of her friends but apparently misdialed and got eddie instead. even though they barely know each other he insists she stay put so he can come get her because like hell is he letting chrissy fucking cunningham be all on her own at a rest stop for longer than necessary!! (he fully gets into a fight with jason next time he sees him at school, which is totally deserved)
and last but not least, the regency au. this one has gone through a couple iterations as i've thought more and more about it but the current plot is basically eddie's the heir to his father's fortune and has a very rakish reputation, which leads to his father basically demanding that he get married and settle down or be written out of the will completely. through some very helpful suggestions from the estate housekeeper (joyce), eddie's betrothed becomes none other than chrissy cunningham herself, who recently went through a bit of social mishap when it was assumed she was going to be proposed to by jason carver who ended up in a hasty marriage to another girl (who he knocked up bc he's The Worst). it's a lil enemies to lovers but honestly the enemies is like the thinnest sense of the word because it's HELLCHEER THEY CAN'T HATE EACH OTHER FOR LONG 😭
