Everyday is a chance to get it right, every situation is an opportunity to deepen your character, every trial is a shot to be a better version of yourself. Sometimes it costs our pride, our own ideals, often our self-centeredness. Should we feel we're giving too much of ourselves? I say no. It's always an edge to be the bigger person and remain composed in times when it's easier to wreck a havoc -- it takes a lot of maturity to remain calm in the middle of chaos and to keep that brave heart no matter how many times someone broke it. Some lessons are learned the hard way and to be able to come out strong - that's courage and resiliency right there.
