명   counter for things relating to people.

there is one student in the car

 마리 counter for animals

호랑나비 한 마리가  꽃밭에 앉아 있는데 ( yes this is a lyric from a song)

there is a butterfly sitting in the flower field

저는 고양이 한 마리가 있어요

I was had gone a long way into my Korean studies when I realized I had to take a step back, take a deep breath and get back to basics. And understanding conjugations were the door way into a whole new level in my Korean journey. And as I plan to add more languages as I go, what I know now will help a lot when I start a new language.
