ST. LOUIS – Mo. (KSDK) — The NewsChannel 5 family has lost one of its own tonight. Long-time anchor and weather person Dianne White Clatto died today.
White Clatto started at KSDK TV in 1962. She was the first African-American female to present the weather — not just on Channel 5 — but at any television station in the country. Her…
#RaiseTheWage: Two St. Louis Area Restaurants Voluntarily Raise Minimum Wage
This is awesome: the owner of two St. Louis area restaurants isn't waiting for Congress to get its act together on raising the minimum wage - they're going to raise it to $10.10, starting April 1st. Said Pi Pizzeria and Gringo owner Chris Sommers:
"It'll help in the moments where people have an unexpected expense and they can take care of it now. And it'll have a few people get to the point where they're not just scraping by."
putting it under a readmore because WOW AM I PISSED.
Okay so a couple weeks ago, they delayed the start of my school because they thought they hear gunshots. They investigated it, and about two hours later found a package of fluorescent light bulbs that had fallen and shattered. But they did everything they were supposed to do, call the cops, alert the students of what was happening, and thoroughly inspect the school for any sign of a gun man. My school was swamped with SWAT teams, US Marshalls, State Troopers, and local police.
Everything was executed flawlessly, and afterwards we all joked about it.
But today, a local news station, News Channel 5, or KSDK, sent an undercover reporter to our school to 'test our security'. The reporter came in to the front office, gave the seceratary his information, (name, phone number, why he was visiting and who he wanted to see, etc). The secretary got up to get the resource officer, (the person who'd he asked to see.) She left to get him, and the reporter disappeared. Immediately, our school went into lockdown. They had no idea where he went or if he was armed. He did not identify himself as a reporter. For an hour, I sat in my biotech classroom, texting my mom and letting her know what was happening. Some freshman were scared shitless. I don't blame them. The office tried calling the number the reporter had left, but he did not answer, even after multiple calls. Finally, they called KSDK to see if it was their reporter. KDSK did not answer the initial calls. After they had searched the entire school, (which took a while, our campus is huge) they gave the all clear.
This is where I get furious.
If you are so desperate for ratings that you think you have the RIGHT to test a school's security, you do not deserve to be called reporters. Kids were actually scared for their lives today, because of you. That's extremely fucked up, and I hope you get sued till you have no money and your reputation is shit. There's already enough fear about going to public school and YOU DO NOT NEED TO ADD TO THAT.
Go suck a bag of dicks, you irresponsible fuckwads.
