she remembers the night they fucked too vividly when heâs in the roomâafter all it was only last week. But she was keeping her distance from Gabeâ at least when Marie was around. Theyâre alone now thoughâ at 3 30 on the morning and sitting on the beach. He almost feels like an old friend, or at the very least a new one, a new something. The light from the small bonfire sheâd convinced him to help her build isnât bright but itâs there. She isnât talking much, just sitting next to him. She spots the first scratch when she leans back, itâs faintâ healed over but thereâ and then she notices the smattering of them across his back. âOh my Godâ What happened to you?â She laughs softly at the end, and the ocean almost swallows the sound.Â
He lifts the beer up to his lips, a smirk spread across them already, before he finally speaks. âYou happened to me.â She blinks slowly and an urgent heat fills the pit of her stomach as her mind fills with memory. She remembers her legs around his waist and her back against the wall, the impatience of it allâ the way her fingers dug into his skin each time she cameâ she remembers. And suddenly she feels as if there isnât enough space between them. An ocean wouldnât be enough. She lifts her fingers to the marks and her fingers trace each one.Â
âRightâ Iâm sorry if I hurt you. Waitâ no Iâm not.â She smirks up at him, and hopes the joke is well received. She presses a soft kiss to the one on his shoulder blade. âNow Iâm sorry.â She doesnât look up at him, or at the waves that have been keeping them company. She just stands and walks insideâbecause they both know she wants to kiss far more than his shoulder blade.Â

Sheâs dreaming him. Itâs the only explanation for it-- for waking up with her mind feeling like sheâd been snorting for days-- like sheâd been taking hits of something. But sheâs clean again-- and it isnât helping her to forget him. She wants to be numb-- she doesnât want to feel. She just wants to exist in a place where Kai doesnât. Wants it to stop hurting.Â
She says itâs just a stop over when it isnât-- sheâs home, but not in her usual way. She almost hides, almost blends into the sudden sun of this London summer. This is no recreational trip-- she is here on business. She lasts 2 days before she finds him in a familiar haunt, some other manâs lips on his--and the jealousy she feels makes her nauseous. She shouldnât have expected any more from him-- they had never mistaken each other for something they werenât. But he is kissing him. And it lights her blood on fire. When he pulls away she is standing there, with tears in her eyes and messy hair. She is dishevelled and it shows. The tartan skirt sits in place, her outfit is immaculate and so is her lipstick but she-- is dishevelled. âHi.â She wants to walk away-- is determined to walk away but instead she goes towards him and wraps her arms around his waist in a hug. She doesnât remember ever hugging him before now-- she kisses his neck because itâs safe, bites down a little because a part of her wants to make him moan again-- make him tell her sheâs the best fuck heâs ever had-- make him come so she knows his true. And a part of her knows itâs the safest place to kiss. Itâs a soft open mouthed affair and the man behind him is probably confused-- but she doesnât care. She couldnât care less.Â
âBye.âÂ
And in true Kaori fashion she runs out of that pub, leaving nothing but the scent of jasmine hanging in the air.Â
Nigeria is eternal summer.
The heat cocoons Kemi. And she can feel her skin starts to glow.
The sun in Chicago only glances at you-- but the sun here makes a statement.
It glares at you, till the rays sink into your skin and imbibe you with sluggishness
and an overdose of vitamin d. So far Spencer seems to be dealing with the heat well-
true the entire house is air conditioned, but they are outside now--
and he isn't dripping with sweat yet.
Kemi's head rests on his lap as she glances at the pool.
The house is just as big as she remembers it-- the compound rolls out, and she knows it's too much property
for just her grandma and a hand full of aunts.
Her father had built his mother a palace-- and glancing at her, it suited her well.
But she knew she wanted it full of people and not the echoes of her footsteps.
"Kemi-- heh-- won't you pretend to be part of this conversation?"
Her grandmother's voice is light and she looks away from the mango trees and meets her gaze.
She has her grandmother's eyes.
"Why? So I can listen to you tell Spencer stories of how embarassing I was a child? He's a writer--
he will never forget--" Her grandmother's eyes roll before a smile breaks out on her face
she's so very beautiful, and her age only enhances it.
Siting there with her headwrap she looks almost regal.
"I don't want him to forget. But it's more entertaining if you pay attention-- I want to see your face
when I tell him about how you hid in that tree, when you were 15."
She sits up then her mouth open.
"Heh-- Nenna-- Don't you dare-- Heh!"
Her accent is less english now-- and clipped with her nigerian accent-- and it prompts her grandmothers laugh.
She turns to face Spencer with a small pout on her lips.
"Don't you dare--DARE- laugh. Spencer Hale. Don't even--"
She doesn't even know why she bothers speaking, it's hard not to laugh when her grandmother does.
Even she is smiling. "Oh Kemi-- he won't love you any less-- when he finds out you scrambled up there
to avoid getting caught coming home late--
and was found curled around a branch at 4 in the morning.
soundly asleep. With the foolish friend who helped you sneak out in the first place. He won't even mind that you fell out of the tree. Into a pile of rubbish.
He says he loves you abi?No problem. He loves you. Even if you smell like rotten soup he loves you. Idiotic behaviour and all--" She cuts her grandmother off with a glare. This trip was a horrid idea.
"...Do you see why I don't bring boys home?"
five times kissed!!! (for kemi and spencer obviously)
The first time Spencer kisses herâ her back is pressed against the bark of a willow tree, and sheâs sure itâs a poetic sight, but she canât do more than feel the steady current between them, the pull and give of something she hadnât realised had blossomed in her chest, and she kisses him back as if to impress the point that she will never go anywhere. That she never could.
The first time she goes on a work tripâand leaves his side, she knows sheâs screwed. She cannot concentrateâ and she pushes through only because she knows sheâs going back soon. When she lands in chicago she doesnât check into a hotelâshe just runs into his bedroom and spins him away from his desk and plants one on him. Itâs a surprise kiss, and sheâs sure heâs wondering whatâs got into herâbut he says nothing. Just kisses her back with the same intensity. She never checks into another hotel in Chicago, again.
The first time she kisses him after he makes love to her, sheâs still steeping in the feeling. She didnât expect him to do thatâ make love to her. And she will pick it apart later, let her mind work through what just happened on his couchâ but for now she sinks into his soft lips, and lets herself be wrapped up in the taste of him. The kiss is softâand decadentâand heady, and she wants more of it, the second he pulls away.Â
The first time anyone catches them kissingâ it is her niece. There is mistletoe in the door wayâand sheâs never been kissed under it before. He kisses her before she voices anything, and itâs supposed to be a quick peck before they return to the din of her family but it stretches out, into a small moment of themâ even when they are lost in a fray of people. She feels the tugging at her hand, and when she looks down her two year old niece is there giggling arms outstretched towards Kemi.  âUp!âÂ
The first time they kiss after the accident, heâs home again. Still resting, but homeâ definitely. And she cancels every job she has lined up for a month to take care of him. She doesnât mention itâ she just does. Sheâs sitting on his bed, in his sweater, laying next to his resting form. She turns and sees him asleep, the way sheâs used to, with a slight smile on his face and the occasional look of worry. He stirs slightly, and she kisses him softly. When he responds, it sends a flutter through her. A small reminder to her system that heâs here.Still here. âUp-up, sleeping beauty. Time for dinner.âÂ
Drew comes home and spends a relaxing evening with his new bride Clare
Requested by (x)
Drew was so happy to get out of practice. The high school kids were driving him nuts. They wouldn't listen, they were awful, and he felt weird being back in his old high school. It was even weirder talking to his old teachers, like they were his friends. He was so happy that the kids had a half day, and he could get home. He would have time to surprise his wife before she came home from work. They had only been married for 6 months, but they had been dating since his senior year of high school. Drew had never been happier. He was shocked to find his wife's car in the driveway. He thought she had to work late. He parked and walked in.
âBabe? I'm homeâ He looked around and didn't see her. Drew finally made his way to the kitchen. His wife was doing dishes and listening to music. He decided to scare her a little. He tickled her sides âHey there gorgeousâ She screamed and jumped around. Once she saw it was Drew she was pissed and hit him.
âAndrew! Ugh you trying to kill me?!â Clare looked pissed. He turned on his puppy dog face, which always melted her anger at him.
âI am sorry babe, I didn't mean to scare you that muchâ He pouted a little and rubbed her shoulders. Clare's face melted.
âYou are such a dorkâ She turned around and continued to the dishes. Drew wrapped his arms around her waist. He whispered in her ear
âI am sorry baby. Please forgive me?â Clare turned off the water and dried her hands a little. She turned to face him, wrapping her arms around his neck and kissed his lips.
âOk I forgive you. How was your day at work?â
âIt was fine, the kids are rude, arrogant and know it all's. Its frustratingâ Drew admitted
âOh so its a team full of yous. I thought that would be funâ She smirked.
âOuch, right in the heart. Remind me why I keep you around?â Drew asked curiously. With that, Clare kissed his lips softly. âOh yeah now I knowâ He returned the kiss. âI thought you had to work lateâ
âI was gonna, but next week is the start of election season, and I will be working every night really late, so my boss said I could go home early. It beat sitting around the paper and playing solitaire one my computerâ Clare admitted.
âWell since we are both here, wanna order dinner? Give us both a night off?â Drew suggested
âI would love that, can we get pizza? I have been dying for a sliceâ
âAlright, I'll orderâ
âSounds good. I am just gonna changeâ Clare kissed his cheek
âOh babe don't change, you are perfectâ Drew teased
âSo funnyâ Clare rolled her eyes and headed up to the bed room.
They enjoyed their dinner together. They talked about their days. Drew went on how he was asked to coach the basketball team. Clare talked about how her boss wanted her to go to New York for Christmas. They ended up on the coach cuddling with, each had a glass of wine. Clare was going on and on about something that happened at work. Drew looked down at his wife. He couldn't help but smile. Not at what she was saying, but the fact that she was here. This amazing girl was his forever. He kissed her head and said
âI love you Clareâ She looked at him kinda confused
âWhat was that for?â Clare looked at him
âI just wanted to say it. I love you.â
Clare pressed her lips into a smile âI love you too Andrew.â She kissed him sweetly on the lips and went back to her story. They ended up falling asleep on the coach. Drew got up first and covered up his wife. He kissed her cheek and headed to work. About 2 o'clock Drew felt his phone vibrate. He looked at it. A small smile spread across his face. Hey husband. I was thinking about you, and I wanted to say I love you. You make me proud! Knock em dead today
Thanks babe. I love you too.
Drew didn't care now how stressful practice was. How annoying the kids were. He had the best wife to go home too. Isn't that what it was all about?
