Ugh.
Oh welp --
I just cannot deal with rich white people comparing being rich, but not super-rich to the institutionalised racism experienced by people of colour. And all this 'It's the same thing! Hurt feelings are all unfair!' is just --
NO.
PEOPLE OF COLOUR DIE FROM RACISM. You will not die from having an expensive, but not the most expensive car out of all your rich friends ffs. It is NOT comparable, and it's about MORE than just 'Oh, my feelings were hurt'. If you're white, don't presume you know a thing about what a POC really experiences in terms of racism because you vaguely know this one Black or Asian guy -- there's a lot you can't know and that you can't see, nor will they tell you, and for good reason. Just, ugh, this is why I had to get another tumblr that's fandom-only for the most part to get away from racism and anti-racism stuff when it was really starting to get me upset all the time and I couldn't deal with it emotionally anymore unless I wanted to be ragingly angry all the time. I'm tired of hearing rich white people talk about how they have it as hard in life as POC when it comes to racism, because ... no. I'm tired of whitesplaining, with white people lecturing POC on the nature of racism as if they know what it's like to be a POC better.
Also, though I tagged it this way, can someone please give me an update on what the policy is for non-Black POC using 'k but you rong doe' or 'kburd'? It's been months since I've said anything about racism anywhere, and while I was there when the kburd term was born -- I don't think anyone remembers me now, but I used to go by xanthophiliac and ran pottercolours (which I may pick up again later) before I disappeared from tumblr for awhile -- I know there was also some discussion about how if non-Black POC kept using it against Black people, their right to use it would be revoked a la white people, and as it is, it's a touchy issue because of how it's based in AAVE and can cross into digital Blackface. And of course I'd be more than happy to stop using it if it's been determined that non-Black POC shouldn't use it anymore after fucking up too many times.
EDIT: What happened to Riley/DTWPS? They seem to have disappeared. I guess I missed out on a lot since I left tumblr for awhile back in February or March.
how basic do you have to be to say things like "JUST SITTING ON TUMBLR ISN'T GOING TO GET YOU EQUALITY!!"
like seriously, you have to be on some pH14 level basicness to even come up with that.
