you know i've seen a lot of people say oak and suren don't have sizzling chemistry or whatever like jurdan do and i just think that it's not, you know, the same /kind/ of chemistry but still
they don't have the enemies to lovers tension but...see.
oak brushing suren's hair, untangling the curls the way he did with his sisters and mothers hair
oak buying the hairpin for her and pinning it on her hair
oak playing that game with the fox pieces just as they did when they were children and letting suren win but then telling her she owes him a dance
when suren pinned the hairpin on his hair in that scene in the boat

i think their appeal is their tenderness and the way they're so familiar with each other thanks to their childhood friendship. Idk I don't think we should expect Jurdan 2.0 with everything HB writes. Suren and Oak have their own beauty. They're a great example of friends to lovers done well (at least only in the first book) and with substance.
