I hate it when people complain about Wrens actions at the end of The Stolen Heir as being 'too harsh' or 'too cruel' because I think that's literally the point. She isn't HUMAN so she isn't going to act like one. She's a FAERIE. Faeries are cruel and impulsive and angry and make irrational choices. Sure, it was a very unkind thing to do but we've also got to remember that Wren has never had any friends before and the first time she truly felt like she could trust someone, he 'lied'. I'd be pretty upset too.
People ask for more folklore accurate faeries but get upset when you actually get one.

The Stolen Heir duology gets wayyy too much hate. It is so underrated and so misunderstood imo
oak and wren are the most interesting and delicious kind of childhood friends to lovers (or something worse) because they didn't even know each other for long... like they only spoke a few times but the impressions that they left on each other's lives was huge...... what if you met someone once when you were nine and then spent years thinking about them for some reason but actually it turns out they also spent years thinking about you... and you both saw in each other what your life could have been like if things were just a little bit different....... and now that you're older that moment of brief friendship has turned into a strange back and forth game of resentment and mistrust and wariness and miscommunication... but also you want to bite and be bitten by each other. respectively. sexual style
If Suren did love Oak it’s not the way Oak loves her or the way Jude loves Cardan nor the way Cardan loves Jude. It is 100% the way Locke Loved Taryn. Suren was perfectly willing to sacrifice him to save her sister and let him die by his sister’s hand. She stood there and did nothing while Oak was fighting his sister. She’s not even willing to risk her neck out for Oak. She only does things for Oak when it’s safe to do so. And that sacrifice she did can be explained away with she did it for her family.
