❥ it was on a completely normal day when she randomly asked you out, which strayed from the script that the two of you usually had. you’d just stared at her for a second, shocked and unsure of what to do next, (she waited very patiently as you tried to logic your way into finding an answer). 

❥ eventually, you found words, accepting her offer. her face had immediately stretched into a gorgeous smile, reaching over the counter and grabbing a pen from the pocket of your apron. when she gestured for your hand, you’d been confused, but you were already too flustered to think anything of it. you gave her your hand and she gently grasped it, dragging the pen across your skin until the writing read her number and full name. 

❥ she walked out without ordering anything, waving to you through the window of the cafe and driving away, leaving you in quite the stupor. 

❥ after your shift you hesitantly texted her, unsure of what to say. your hesitance was immediately gone when she instantly replied back, using many emojis to express her happiness that you next back. 

(y/n): hello! it’s (y/n) from the cafe! :D senju akashi: OMG hi! (>▽<) i’ve been waiting for you to text!! ＜("0 ")＞ senju akashi: are you free tomorrow? let’s go see a movie! (#^.^#)

❥ the next day, (after you promptly tossed all of your clothes out of your closet looking for an outfit) you met senju outside the station next to the movie theater, feeling a bit nervous about the whole thing. you’d never imagined that the cute girl who always came in would ask you out, so you were hoping that you wouldn’t be letting her down…

❥ when she showed up, all you could do was stare at her and smile for a few moments; she looked absolutely beautiful. it seemed as if she had put on a light amount of makeup further enhancing her features, (seriously, was this real right now?! were you about to go on a date with this gorgeous girl!?). 

“wow! you look so beautiful!!”  “haha, thank you! you look so pretty too!” 

❥ senju hooked her arm through yours, immediately breaking the awkward contact barrier between the two of you as she began to walk in the direction of the theater, (you were thankful that she was so straightforward because you felt like an emotional mess at the moment). 

❥ when the two of you entered the theater, she flashed a black card when buying the tickets, which you tried your best not to gape at. nonetheless, she caught you and just giggled at you expression, poking your cheek and bringing you to the concession stand. 

“my brother gave me his credit card, so we can go crazy!!” 

❥ well. her brother must be very rich…

❥ arms full of popcorn, junk food and drinks, the two of you made your way to the theater the movie was playing in. any awkwardness or nervousness you might have felt about going out with senju had vanished, leaving you with the fluttery feeling in the pit of your stomach and the amount of fun you were having. 

❥ you hadn’t even been sure what movie the two of you were seeing, but you laughed a bit to yourself when you realized it was a horror movie; terribly cliche, but strangely, you didn’t mind as long as it was with senju. 

❥ with the popcorn bucket between the two of you, the movie began. the first half wasn’t really scary, so you and senju were just watching with a bit of boredom, making comments and joking to each other about strange moments. seeing her smiling in the darkness of the theater was making you feel some type of way; your heart was beating slightly faster the entire time, your giddiness evident from the smile that didn’t seem to leave your lips the entire time. 

❥ by the second half of the movie, the horror had progressed a bit more, leaving the two of you a bit more scared as the scenes continued, (you and senju swore to protect each other if someone came out from behind to murder everyone). 

❥ there was one particular scene that freaked the both of you out, making you both instinctively reach for each other, your hands clasping together and squeezing as you both stared at the screen in fright. when the scene was over, you and senju looked to each other, laughing a bit and continuing with watching the movie, (neither of you let go). 

❥ by the end of the movie, the two of you had moved a lot closer to each other, which you really hadn’t realized until the lights turned on in the theater. neither of you minded though :) 

“you’re not planning on taking the train home this late, right?”  “hm? oh, haha, i was…”  “let me take you home!” 

❥ you hadn’t expected that you would be riding home on a motorbike of all things today, though you suppose you should have considered the possibility since you were going on a date with senju, the girl who always rode her motorbike to the cafe. 

❥ you hadn’t ever ridden one, so you had to admit that you were a little bit nervous at first, but senju made you feel more comfortable, telling you to hold onto her as tightly as possible if it made you feel better, (it made you more flustered, but you were happy to be close to her). 

❥ you felt a bit sad when you noticed that you were almost home, holding onto senju a bit tighter, (you really didn’t want to say goodbye yet). when she arrived in front of your house, she killed the engine, giggling a bit when she realized you hadn’t let go of her yet. 

“i’ll text you right when i get home, and we can plan another date!”  “hm, okay…as long as you promise.” “i promise!!” 

❥ you finally let go of her, getting off of her motorbike. senju walked you to the entrance of your house, giving you a sweet smile as she held your hand. before you could give yourself too much time to think about it, you leaned forward pressing your lips against her cheek for a few moments. when you pulled away, there was a shocked expression on her face, her eyes wide as she looked at you. 

“next time…i’ll give you an actual kiss. get home safe! bye bye!” 

❥ you chuckled when you saw that she still had the same shocked look on her face, blindly nodding at your words. 

“bye bye…”

❥ you were really looking forward to the next date :)

gonna be late. the rain caught up with me on the way home.

you send the message to your [ parent / guardian ], sighing out of frustration. it’s the last bus stop, why did it have to rain now? there was no point in getting angry, and there was nothing else to do to wait out the rain. you’d have played on your phone but preserving the battery was a wiser choice.

there was no one else on that bus stop, but you felt another presence arrive. the scent was familiar, too familiar. you saw the shoes. it reminded me of your neighbor. my neighbor. “senju?”

senju was already looking at you, shielded by her black umbrella under the worn-out roofing of the bus stop. your feet were getting wet due to how little the roof was covering, and it beginning to get cold. “shouldn’t you be home by now?”

“yeah, the rain got to me,” you said, jaw tight from your body shivering. the rain had slowed down since what felt like hours ago, you figured it’s calm enough for you to be able to walk home like this. “what are you-”

“let’s walk home together.”

senju wasn’t the type to repeat things. you learned this a couple times when she’d run into you out on the streets, perhaps after running to the store to buy something, she’d always say the same thing — let’s walk home together.

the walk was awfully quiet, though it wasn’t awkward due to the raindrops. the crickets were making a lot of noise now that it had rained, they were coming out of their nooks. you took this quiet opportunity to wonder why senju was always bizarrely kind to you.

you knew about her past as a gang leader. the word around town was that she was up to par with manjiro sano, to you, it was hard to believe that your neighbor who would come out to tell you to eat ice cream with her was the same girl everyone had once feared.

the umbrella was small, both of your shoulders were getting wet as the raindrops were cascading down the fabric shield. it was specifically meant for senju, not for two people. it took you a while to realize that the annoying wet drops on your shoulder had stopped.

senju leaned the umbrella over to your side, completely covering you from the rain. your eyes darted to her, her shoulder and part of her hair was drenched in water. this made you gulp, senju never failed to mention how she hated getting wet. she brought her umbrella everywhere during rain season, why would she do this?

“sen-”

“it’s alright. don’t worry about me.”

she made sure you got home safely, watching you enter your house and hearing the door lock click. that was the sign that you were home, safe and away from the dangers the outside world had. you could see her from the glass window your door had; there was something about her eyes that had you longing to understand her, like softness.

senju got a fever the next day.

❥ you were ready to just continue your way back home, but out of the corner of your eye, you noticed someone sprinting in the direction of the culprit, wait no, how is this person running so fast?!

❥ you watched in the distance as the person roundhouse kicked the punk, grabbing your bag from his fallen body and casually walking back towards you. you just stared at them in shock, realizing who the person had been once they got closer to you.

“no way…senju-chan?!” “yo! i got your bag back, (y/n)-chan!” 

❥ all you could do was stare at the girl in front of you as she held it out to you; there were so many questions running through your mind at the moment, though the first question you had was is she wearing a gang uniform?!

❥ after your moment of shock, you decided to put all your questions aside. no matter how she did it, senju had gotten your bag back from you, saving you from a lecture from your teacher about losing class documents. you gratefully accepted your bag from her, trying to think of a way to pay her back. 

“ahh, you really didn’t have to get it for me! i’d already accepted it…”  “nonsense! i won’t allow anyone to dishonor my beloved class president!”  “haha, i think you’re exaggerating a bit, but thank you, truly. actually, are you free right now?” “hmm, i think so…? why?”  “let me treat you to a meal as a thank you!” 

❥ and so the two of you set off, casually chatting as you searched on your phone for a nearby place to take her to. you kept repeating to yourself in your mind that this is not a date, that you were just treating her as a thank you! after all, she helped you out in a big way, so this is normal, right? 

❥ the two of you eventually ended up at a boba restaurant; although you knew that this was definitely going to hurt your wallet, you just couldn’t say no to senju’s pleas when she saw the place, talking about how she’d been wanting to check out it for ages. 

❥ as the two of you were ordering and you saw the price kept going up on the register, you knew that your wallet would be lighter when you put it back into your pocket, (you decided it was a necessary expense, so it was fine). 

❥ when the food came out, the smell of it made you realize just how hungry you’d been from staying after school for so long. from the way senju was eyeing the different dishes, you were sure that she felt the same way, which made you feel better when the both of you started chowing down. the boba that you had gotten was especially good, and by the time the two of you were finished, there was absolutely no scraps of any food left. 

“wahh, that was so good!! thank you, (y/n)-chan!” 

❥ you’d felt a bit sad at the fact that the two of you had finished already, but you supposed that you already knew senju wouldn’t be able to stick around too long. when the two of you exited the restaurant, you began to say your goodbyes to the girl, which made her look a bit confused. 

“huh? why’re you saying bye? i’m gonna walk you home, of course!” 

❥ her statement took you off guard, especially when she was acting like it was an obvious thing to do, (were you crazy? do normal people do this after hanging out with friends?). you just went along with it, feeling happy that you got to spend a little bit more time with senju. 

❥ you had to admit that you felt safer with her by your side, especially now that it was getting a lot darker out, (seeing her roundhouse kick someone like it was nothing highly contributed to this). at some point during the walk, she looped her arm with yours, happily continuing with your conversation as if she hadn’t done anything. 

❥ when the two of you arrived to your house, you thanked her, bowing in gratitude for her getting your bag back for you. she’d brushed off your thankfulness, saying that it was nothing, she was glad to help! she started going on about how she would never let anybody dishonor her class president and favorite classmate, and that nobody would be bothering you now that she had claimed you, (what was she talking about? actually, you’re not going to ask). 

❥ before you went into your house, senju suddenly grabbed your hand, pulling you a bit closer to her. her lips pressed against your cheek for a moment, giving you a peck. she pulled away a moment later, giving you a big grin and saying that she would treat you on your next date. 

“bye bye, (y/n)-chan! i’ll see you tomorrow!”  “wait, senju?! come back- ah, she’s gone…”

❥ you stood for a moment, staring at her as she ran away, watching as she faded into the distance. while that wasn’t exactly the outcome you had been expecting…you supposed it was okay for now, (you were absolutely over the moon). 

❥ you were definitely going to be having a talk with her tomorrow.

♡ you immediately agreed; how could you have said no to the excited look on her face? 

♡ she had given you exactly zero details though, so you weren’t exactly sure what to be getting ready for. whatever the circumstances though, you were very excited. sure, maybe it was a bad thing that you were hiding your feelings from your friendly neighbor, but it wasn’t like it was harming anything, so it was fine, right? 

♡ you threw some random things into a bag and hastily fixed your hair, checking your reflection in the mirror to make sure that you look alright. when you were satisfied, you hastily wrote a note down where you were going and stuck it on the fridge, exiting your house and looking around for senju. 

“boo!”  “hm? oh, hi! where are we going?” 

♡ senju groaned at your lack of reaction to her attempt at a sneak attack, grumbling about how you were supposed to act scared as she pulled your cheeks, stretching them out with a grumpy look. you only laughed, her expression being quite cute as she pouted. she eventually stopped, grabbing your hand to drag you over to her bike, handing you a helmet as she preached about how you need to protect your head, (she brushed it off when you asked about her own head, saying that she would probably be fine). 

♡ you reluctantly put on the helmet after her insistence, although you were sure to let her know that next time you would not get on her bike if she also didn’t have a helmet. 

“you’re such a worrywart, (y/n)! do you reallyyy think i would do something stupid and get hurt?”  “yes.”  “what!?”

♡ you tried your best to act completely normal as you wrapped your arms around senju’s waist, but you couldn’t help the giddy smile that came from having physical contact with her, (you were just really glad that she couldn’t see you looking like an idiot). despite the fact that you wanted to pull a little bit closer to her, you refrained, going your best to keep a healthy distance between the two of you while still holding onto her. 

♡ it was a lot harder than you could’ve imagined; all the times she would speed through the light as it was turning yellow made you press closer to her than you were originally intending, but you figured if she asked about it that you would blame it on her driving skills. yeah, that’s it. 

♡ you had absolutely no clue as to where you two were going, and your curiosity increased tenfold when senju started driving out of the city limits. you didn’t ask any questions though, feeling a bit excited at being surprised by something. of course though, you didn’t get your hopes up too much. there was absolutely no way she felt the same about you, so you did your best to squash those thoughts before they could emerge. it wasn’t exactly working. 

♡ after another thirty minutes of driving, senju suddenly pulled over to the side of the road, slowing down and turning the engine off. 

“i almost missed it! that would’ve been bad, but anyways, we’re here! let’s go!”

♡ you hastily pulled the helmet off of your head, frantically running after senju as you tried to fix your hair. she had already began the journey to whenever she was taking you, her jogging somehow being a lot faster than your running, (serious, why was she so fast?). 

“we’re here!”  “wait for me, agh, ‘m so tired…woah.”  “right?! let’s go!!” 

♡ you had to stop and do a double take when you finally caught up with her; in front of you was the most wide and vast field of flowers that you had ever seen in your life. the most beautiful sight though, was seeing senju in front of you, waving at you to come and join her. the giddy smile that was on her face as she called your name was making your heart skip several beats, and you could only hope that she didn’t have some sort of super hearing as you walked over to her, trying to keep your eyes on the flowers instead of her. 

“isn’t it awesome, (y/n)?!”  “yeah, it’s super pretty!” 

♡ before you could say anything else, senju had plopped herself down onto the ground, picking some flowers from around her and laying them in her lap, urging you to join her with a blinding smile. 

♡ you hadn’t exactly been sure what she wanted to do in a flower field aside from admire it, but it was obvious now that she wanted to make flower jewelry. over the course of many hours, she did her best to teach you about how to weave the flowers into a flower crown, and how to make bracelets and necklaces. sometimes, she would get over excited and would stop explaining the steps, but she would immediately go back to helping you when she noticed your confusion in trying to copy her steps. 

♡ the day was coming to a close; the sky was filled with beautiful bursts of pinks and oranges, and despite the fact that it was gorgeous, it also meant that you and senju would have to leave soon. 

“aaand, there’s one last thing!”  “oh, what is it?”  “this!” 

♡ from behind her back, senju pulled out a tiny circle of small flowers, woven together to create a ring shape. with no words, she gently grabbed your hand, taking the flower ring and slipping it onto your ring finger. it was taking the most amount of resistance in you to try and not interpret it as something else, but you couldn’t help the quickening pace of your heart and the butterflies in your stomach. 

♡ when you heard senju giggling in front of you, you turned your gaze from the ring to her. you weren’t sure what she was laughing at, but you felt a bit of embarrassment anyways, hoping that you weren’t making a dumb face while you spaced out for a moment. 

“you’re so cute, (y/n)!”  “...don’t say things like that…”  “awh, why not?”  “it could make someone get the wrong idea.”  “i’m not trying to make you get the wrong idea though.” 

♡ the gleeful look on senju’s face was immediately replaced with a serious expression, her eyes suddenly seeming like they were staring into your soul. you swallowed, laughing a little nervously as you tried to figure out what she was saying. 

♡ before you could say anything more, senju had scooched closer to you, her knees moving to rest on top of yours as you leaned back a bit. it was all a little bit more than your heart could handle, and you were sure that if she came any closer you would explode. 

“well, i was more talking about if you said that to another person, they might think something different…”  “you’re the only one i would say that to, (y/n).” 

♡ she had you completely shocked now; your words stopped working. how were you supposed to respond to that? 

♡ senju, apparently, didn’t need any more words from you. her serious expression morphed into a playful one as she climbed onto your lap, pushing you down onto the soft bed of flowers and hovering above you. 

♡ your heart was now beating a million miles a minute, especially with her being directly above you and staring at you with such a soft look in her eyes. you didn’t dare to move; if this was a dream, you did not want to wake up anytime soon. 

♡ without another moment to think about anything else, senju suddenly leaned down right above your face, pausing for a moment and looking at you with a questioning look. when she was sure that you weren’t going to pull away, she gently slotted her lips against yours, seeming a bit hesitant as the two of you looked at each other. 

♡ when you finally realized you weren’t dreaming, you closed your eyes and brought your hand up to her head, threading your fingers through her hair and bringing her closer. senju’s hesitance was immediately thrown out the window at this; her lips moved against yours, feeling velvety soft and warm as her hand went to cup your cheek. 

♡ after a few moments, she pulled away, a warm smile on her face. you had no idea what kind of expression you had on right now; you couldn’t seem to control anything due to the pounding of your heart. senju suddenly flopped, dropping directly onto you and tucking her face into your neck. 

“i’ve been wanting to do that for so long.”
