for what itās worth, i really am sorry. + Kate and Audrey?
kate bishop + audrey barton in bullseye!
Audrey sat in front of the TV, mindlessly flicking through the channels as she sipped on her third cup of coffee that morning. Not that she needed it to stay awake ā god knows thatās all she ever does ā coffee was just something she picked up from her dad years ago, and now itās too late to drop it.
Her head turned when she heard footsteps headed to her direction; watching Kate groggily rub the drowsiness off her eyes with her lips on a pout, and her lips involuntarily curled into a small smile. āCoffee?ā
Kate turned to Audrey, then nodded as she dropped her hands to her side while the latter stood up from the couch and poured her a cup.
āHow long have you been awake?ā she asked, brows furrowed. āItās like, so early and you went to bed really late last night.ā
Audrey scoffed fondly as she handed the cup over. āWhat? Were you monitoring me?ā
Kate immediately made faces at an attempt to deny the claim, āOf course not! What do you think of me?ā she feigned offense, then proceeded to shake her head, āIām not...I didnātāā she stopped herself, and Audrey simply stared at her with a knowing look. āI was just...listening to you a little bit,ā she claimed as she raised the cup to her lips, loudly sipping on her coffee without breaking their eye contact, āLike a tiny bit.ā
Audrey chuckled before she walked away, which made Kate smile despite being slightly confused at the moment; watching her sit comfortably with her sweatshirt, sweatpants and mismatched socks. After the argument they had last night ā one that she started ā she figured Audrey wouldnāt talk to her again. Like, ever. The thought terrified her, if she was being honest; and so glad that it doesnāt seem to be the case.
Kate wearily sat beside her, eyes flickering from the blonde to the television that she couldnāt really care less what was on. She tapped her nails against the cup, trying to think of the right words to say but her mouth had already began to move.
āHey, I, umāā she cleared her throat, suddenly freezing up like a statue with the way that Audrey stared at her. āI just...uh, wanna say that...ā
Kate sucked in a deep breath as she cocked her brow and tilted her head to the side in anticipation, realizing that she was actually paying attention to her gibberish. āI just...I wanna say, that...for what itās worth, I really am sorry.ā
Audrey pouted in thought, then shrugged her shoulders. āFor what?ā
āFor...ā she trailed off, looking down in shame but as she looked back up, Audrey held the playful grin that annoyed Kate to no end. āOh, you know!ā she exclaimed, making the blonde laugh, because she did; they screamed themselves off about it last night. āFor causing all these problems and making you and your family go through all of this,ā Kate continued; sincerity visible in her voice as well as in her eyes, which she now focused on the cup of coffee she held over her lap.
Audrey smiled as she reached for her chin, held it up and stared into her eyes. āKinda glad you did, actually,ā she told her, putting her hand over Kateās then caressed it with her thumb, āWouldnāt have met you again otherwise.ā
Kate couldnāt help but blush and smile widely as she nodded in agreement, their eyes never looking away from each other while their grip on one anotherās hands tightened. āIām...sorry too, by the way,ā Audrey whispered as she chewed on the inside of her cheek and played with Kateās fingers. āI didnāt mean what I said last night.ā
Kate crunched her nose, āYeah, you did,ā she said playfully, causing them both to laugh.
āNot all of it, babe,ā she replied with a wide smile, lifting their hands to her face to place a long, soft kiss on the back of Kateās hand. āNot all of it.ā
