The song "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue" (Angry American) was written by Toby Keith in just 20 minutes a week after 9/11 had occurred. The song was originally intended to be performed live for soldiers only, until he performed it at the Pentagon and the Marine Corp commandant told him  'You have to release it. You can serve your country in other ways besides suiting up in combat.' We will go kick their butts. But we survive on morale,'

Ever since the song was released it has changed the singers life and many other peoples lives as well. It has been used as a "battle cry" in Iraq, and bombs have been branded with it along with the first tank that was ever in Baghdad. He was asked to perform for a Fourth of July performance on ABC, but because people thought the lyrics for the song were to hostile at time they thought it would not be best to open up the show with the song and set the wrong tone. 

The song is heart felt and hits home for a lot of soldiers who are serving in Iraq, and soldiers in general, retired or not. It even hit the hearts of many Americans that sat in front of their TV's that day in September in complete shock and outrage that something like this could happen to their home. Toby Keith expressed all of these heart felt emotions and anger into a song that so many people could relate to.
