I love Kat Falls’ books Dark Life and Rip Tide. They are scifi/adventure novels for teenagers and definitely among my favorites.
In short, the plot is this: a 15-year-old boy named Ty has lived underwater all his life. He’s glowing due to the type of fishes people eat underwater, but that’s not the only unusual thing in him; he also has this thing called dark gift. In the first book, sea bandits known as the Seablite Gang disturbs the underwater territory, and in the second book, Ty finds a township chained in the bottom of the sea and it’s full of dead people. Another one is missing and Ty tries to find it to save its residents before it’s too late.
Both books are really well written and their plot is interesting. They don’t get boring at any point. The characters are well build and the interaction between them feels real. I especially like this guy named Shade who is the leader of Seablite Gang (I even had a crush on him a few years ago 😁). I’m surprised that neither of the books has gained much popularity although they would have deserved it and furthermore, they have been translated into at least six languages so I’d suspect that they would have become popular at least somewhere.
