You know, I actually get Sakurai’s views on putting manga and anime characters in Smash Bros.
As much as I might like to see someone from Dragon Ball fighting Link or Mewtwo, the series is supposed to be a celebration of video games first and foremost. If you lose that, you risk losing what makes Smash Bros. Smash Bros.
That being said, I think Nintendo’s foray into mobile games is vastly underrepresented in SSBU. Which should definitely be rectified in the Fighter Pass using Nintendo’s first original mobile IP: Dragalia Lost.
Of course, the problem you run into is that most of the characters will be seen as yet another Fire Emblem sword and magic-using character in a game already saturated with them. Even the whole turning into a dragon thing is already covered by the Corrins.
But the great thing about mobile games like Dragalia is that new content is always being added to keep the game fresh. And nowhere does that stand out more than this latest update, Echoes of Antiquity. This Journey to the West-inspired event is chock full of interesting characters and ideas. And so I would propose that the latest addition to the Fighter Pass should definitely be the Raid Boss, Qitian Dasheng.
Broly’s Qitian Dasheng’s magic staff and explosive, energy-based attacks would be a welcome addition to the Smash Bros. roster, and I think we would all look forward to see him and Donkey Kong battle it out to see who’s the true King of Apes.
Plus, Ryu and Ken really need an evil martial artist to challenge. And putting a clone like Akuma in would just be a waste of a slot.
Yes, the obvious next addition to the Fighter Pass is Legendary Super Saiyan Qitian Dasheng.
