I'm excited! My DC Super Hero Girls action figures arrived and they are beautiful! And kind of adorable while still looking strong and proud and showing actual muscles instead of the stick-thin limbs they used to put on female superheroes. And no male dream, body objectifying, unreal augmentations that don't fit body type, either! Which is a good thing especially since I think these are meant for kids and tweens. Also cool to note: in various incarnations Batgirl has been a librarian (Barbara Gordon) and biracial (Cassandra Cain, half Chinese and half Caucasian). I love that Target and DC Comics are making more girl/woman superhero action figures and dolls available; there are usually so few out there. I think this is very positive for both girls and boys. Yes, girls and women can be--and are--strong in so many ways. We still need more diversity but this is a start! I so want to get the DC Super Hero Girls "dolls" as well but they are always shown to be out of stock on Target's Canadian website...but I may have a lead on that. Meanwhile, these action figures delight me! P.S. If you haven't seen the Supergirl show, check it out! It's SO good, with a strong female hero is is emotionally as well as physically strong, yet with flaws and worries and baggage, who works collaboratively AND tries to talk things out first rather than just bash.
