HAM!
Dacina looked at Rei as she sliced up the ham she had placed in the roaster that morning,”Yes, Ponyo, it’s ham. There’s also sweet potatoes in the oven.” She placed the brown sugar glazed ham slices on a plate on the small round table across from the kitchen. Dacina then grabbed oven mitts and took the sweet potatoes out of the oven. “Do you always react that way when someone makes food, alley cat?”
[text]: I'm just that drunk tells people I love them or wants to set them on fire. Accept that.
[text]: And I just so happen to be the one you wanna set on fire?!

It had been five months. Nao had arrived on this island for the first time in decades five months ago, and since then, hadn’t said a single word to any person they actually knew. There had been such a rush of new residents in these past years, in the entirety of their stay so far, even having a steady public job and lounging daily in the courtyard between the apartments, that the reaper hadn’t seen any of Mamono’s older residents. Recently, satisfied that they were finally settled, Nao tried to socialize more and more. But as awesome as new friends were, it was only a matter of time before they had to approach some old ones, and they knew it. Happy as they were to finally see her again, a big portion of their souls were decidedly not happy to make the walk across the courtyard to the Cherry apartments. Rei was not going to be pleased to hear that some name on unimportant immigration forms a few months ago was actually that random collection of souls she hadn’t seen in decades. The eighth felt strongly enough to make their own distinct thought, recounting how the demon was never pleased. The old souls in particular urged a better balance between thoughts, hoping to not have to deal with any youngsters’ sass. On the other hand, the still fresh new additions to the group were very, very curious to meet someone the old souls knew so well. So far, in this lifetime, they had only stuck to the body’s family, and friends, and other people that thrust themselves into their lives. It’d be strange to know someone directly that they’d only met through their other souls’ memories. Like.. meeting a character from a book or.. something! There wasn’t much room for analogy here; You’d probably have to be a soul harvester to understand the feeling, as annoying and familiar as that was. So partly excited, partly annoyed, partly content, they knocked on the door of Cherry Apartment number one.Â
Eden sat at the counter of the Kahi Café, watching Rei bustle around the kitchenette area. She was so cute when she worked. She fiddled with a reddening jade plant, pursing her lips and sticking her finger in the soil, it's leaves filling out and becoming shiny. "Rei, you should really put this little guy under a gro-light or something. He's dying over here," She said, concern tinging her voice.

Aimlessly wandering as usual, Jun decided he was sick of the seemingly endless layer of gray clouds hovering over the sky and popped into the Kahi Cafe for a bit of a break. Behind the counter, he noticed a girl with long reddish hair that he didn’t recognize. Jun was horrendous at introducing himself to people, so he shuffled inside, trying not to make eye contact--although he quickly realized that he wouldn’t be avoiding her, as he was one of the only ones in the cafe.
Today it was even gloomier than the day Bia Aldo arrived. The drizzling rain drowned out any noise of nature, and the waves crashed against the shoreline, threatening to flood the boardwalk. Bia ducked under the stoop of the Kahi Café and stumbled inside, shaking out their wet curly hair. It smelled of cinnamon cassia and coffee as soon as they entered, and a warmth enveloped them.

Jasper pulled his coat tightly around his thin frame, shielding himself from the sharp wind. He stepped into the cafe, breathing a sigh of relief as the warm air flooded around him. The white haired male gave a sniff, rubbing the end of his nose and the tips of his ears.Â
He tightened his scarf around his neck as he walked up to the counter, rubbing his hands together. "Morning," he yawned. "Coffee, hot and black, please."Â
