Fan-Sequel to Kankrioh's "Porrim's Knitting Club"
Cronus didn't own him, nor was he his lover. He could have been, but ran away like he always did to all of his one-night stands; his little flings that he had wrapped around his fingers. Honestly, he could have had it all, but like the mangey mutt he was, he turned tail and left upon his fear of having to commit to a relationship. A relationship that left him without freedom and choice to do whatever he pleases without another person weighing him down. Heh...what an idiot he had been. A few months swept by along with his string of flings, but none could fill the void that Kankri once filled. Even in the middle of sex with some nameless woman he met at some bar, he found himself pulling away, putting on his clothes, and leaving her apartment. Whatever shitty spell Kankri had on him, it was making him feel like complete and utter shit....and he accepted it completely. A few weeks in, as he sat around on his sofa with guitar in hand, Cronus kept thinking about Kankri even more. What he could have done instead or what would have happened had he not left that single night while Kankri was asleep. Even found himself dreaming of the shorter male and what could have been his boyfriend. Sometimes there were terrible nightmares which involved tears and being out of reach with the young man in the sweater; walking away and leaving Cronus in complete darkness. By April, Cronus found himself reaching for his phone, about to call the one person he should have called that morning on New Years. His thumb was right over the 'call' button, shaking slightly as he replay the words in his mind over and over in hopes of convincing himself to make that call. Cronus, of course, fails to each and every single time for the next two months. When June came around, Cronus found himself walking by Kankri's apartment complex every night from a small gig he had at some local cafe. He would watch the sillouhette of the shorter man walking about with book in hand before turning off the lights to sleep. It was as close as he could get for now, much too afraid to see what said shorter male had to say to him. Though, whatever it may be...he probably deserved it. In the middle of July, Cronus gathered enough courage to actually go and apologize to Kankri. He took his motorcycle there and rushed up the stairs to greet him; a bouquet of red roses in his hand. He mouthed the apologies to himself, hoping he wouldn't screw up like he had all those other times. The person to greet him was not whom he expected. "...Cronus." Porrim, Kankri's closest and only friend stood at the doorway, her hand readied at the edge of the door. "You ruined my life and Kankri's life. What more do you want from this place?" "Look, I know what I've done was pretty fucking stupid, but I came back to apologize." "......." Porrim's judging expression did not change, as if she had expected Cronus to say such a thing. She began to immediately close the door on the man, to which Cronus quickly stopped her from doing so by putting his foot in between the door and the doorway. "Fuck! Porrim! Just give me a chance! I'll fix it!" "You can't fix what's already gone! Move your foot, Cronus!" "At least let me talk to Kankri! I'll leave any time he tells me to! Promise!" The struggle continues a few seconds more until Porrim pulled the door away and grabbed a fist full of the Ampora's shirt. She dragged him inside the apartment, and towards Kankri's bedroom door. She slammed the door open, revealing to the greaser an empty room. No posters, no drawers, or even a single bookshelf in sight. The only thing left was a single mattress on a wooden bed frame. "Do you understand now? You can't fix it, Cronus. He's gone." ----------
Sitting alone in his apartment, with withering red roses meant for an apology, Cronus ran a hand through his hair, letting out a single puff of smoke. He stubbed his cigarette out into his half-filled ashtray, attempting his 413th call to Kankri's phone. A phone number that no longer worked, and had stopped working since two months ago before he got a new one.
Porrim refused to give him any details to where he had moved to or what he was doing. All she told him was that Kankri had packed his things and moved several days ago with his younger brother.
He had wasted such precious time and all of his chances to be with the one person who actually gave a shit about him. Now that person was gone for good.
