Krypton is named after the element of the same name, which comes from the Greek "kryptos", meaning hidden, concealed, secret.

Kandor, meanwhile, comes from the word "candor", meaning openness, honesty, truth.

Krypton initially exists only as a mystery, a memory not even Superman remembers himself. It's where he comes from, but he knows nothing about it.

Kandor shows him what Krypton really was, warts and all. It shows him his people, his culture, his history. It reveals the truth of the mystery.

When mystery and secrets are destroyed, all that is left of it is truth.

Alright so most of us know the whole "Superman sent away in his rocket pod as a baby to escape the destruction of Krypton = baby Moses sent down the river in a basket to escape the Pharoah's slaughter of Jews" thing

But I think Superman as Moses goes farther than just that

Moses story is about how he was appointed (chosen? Selected? Drawn from a hat?) by the big man to free the Hebrews from slavery under the Pharaoh

And what do you know, there is something in Superman's lore that fits with that

Kandor, a city of living Kryptonians, shrunken and imprisoned by Brainiac

And more often than not, the story goes that Superman, aka Kal-El (very close to the Hebrew "Qol-El", ie "Voice of God"), the surviving Kryptonian sent away as a baby to spare him from death defeats Brainiac and Frees the Kandorians
