Sometimes I think about the fact that we are witnessing the worst ending for the riptide pirates.
Not in the sense of they can never have their happy ending, but in the sense that it's never easy. In our universe, Jay loses her sister and Gillion loses some part of his, too. They all trade their souls away until one of them doesn't even have a soul.
I think in another universe they meet without grief. I think in another universe Chip and Jay meet as siblings-in-law and bicker at their sisters' wedding. I think in another universe Gillion grows up with his grandfather and when the ship crashes him and Chip have each other. I think in another universe Jay stands up to her father without fear, because she has someone behind her.
I think we are being forced to witness the bad ending.

Oh theres a couple, but one ending thats bothered me for a while now is Soul Eaters ending
STOP!!!! You know what you shouldn't do right now? You shouldn't think about Chip and how young he is. Please don't think about the faxt he was barely a tween when everything he loved sank beneath the sea in a horrible, incomprehensible way. Please don't think about the fact that he was forced to kill a man as nothing but a lost teenager. Please don't think about the fact that he fucking lost his life at 19 years old. Please don't think about the fact that maybe his irresponsiblity, his recklessness, his desperate attempts to hold onto his past come from the fact that he's just a kid, in the end, he's just a kid that never got a chance to grow out of it. All the Riptide Pirates are, really, but Chip knew what it was to be nothing more than a child and it got ripped away from him.
If Jay and Gillion never got to be little, Chip never got to grow up.
