Earlier this week, I dropped a new single called, āDonāt Get Caught Sickā. Check it out and share with a bud.
āDonāt Get Caught Sick In Americaā can mean many things to different people, but this song was inspired by the high insurance bills that come with getting sick in the land of the...free.
A few years back, I found myself enraged after reading a few articles about multiple diabetic Americans dying from not being able to afford insulin. Not much has changed, and the prices of the hospital bills and medication are only getting higher.
Almost three years ago, my friend and frequent collaborator, Nick Zamora (longtime drummer and co-writer for The Suffers), sent me this chord progression via text that I found equal parts eerie and beautiful. He had recorded himself messing around on this toy instrument that currently lives in a public park in Salt Lake City, Utah. Back in Houston, I was immediately drawn in by what Nick had sent, down to the voices of his son and the other children playing in the background. It took me a few tries to figure out exactly what I wanted to say, but once I was in the zone, I just sang the truth and released the frustration I was feeling into the microphone.
The cover photo was taken by Cedric Jones at Harvest Hands Community Development in Nashville, TN.
What you hear on this, is the first take. Everything I tried after, just didnāt feel as authentic. The song is meant to be a warning, but at times it feels like a threat, or even a promise. There is a tinge of hope at the end of it that was inspired by the voices of the children. āJoy is on the way, I know itā.
Stream the song here or watch the lyric video above. Thank you ā¤ļø

This Friday, the 13th, I'm throwing a party to remember with a bunch of incredible artists you should know. Dan Electros is hosting me and bunch of my people I love for night one of Kam Franklin and Friends. What is it? A collaborative set filled with 9 other singers that are absolutely killing it right now in the city of Houston. It's hard to break out of this city as an independent musician, but one way to do it is by putting other people on when you have an opportunity to do so. So, here I am! My win is their win! We'll be playing love songs, breakup songs, covers, and originals. I put a band a of shredders together to play behind these incredible artists, and we are gonna have a damn good time.
Collaborative sets featuring @SaintMelanin @chiyanti @zmajiglamouratti @saravanbuskirk @shadavis Sugar Joiko @MarleyMoon @jenswann and more

Happy Holidays and NYE party at Hotel Lucine!
What a year! Before I get started with this post, I just want to say thank you for being a part of my community. Because of you and all of my supporters on Kickstarter, I was able to send my debut solo album into final production. More on that in the new year. š Do you have New Yearās Eve plans? If not, I hope youāll make a plan to join me and my trio at Hotel Lucine in Galveston, TX. Iāll be joined by Sara Van Buskirk and Kenny Hopkins of Yay Hi. Iām especially excited for this show because weāll be playing songs from my upcoming album, some solo work from Kenny and Sara, and a few covers to keep things fun and light as we welcome in 2026 next to the ocean.
More info on the party is available if you click either photo below:
This year was filled with some really incredible moments. I got to tour all over the country with theĀ Antoneās 50th All-Stars. That season wrapped with a debut performance onĀ Austin City Limits. I performed at Willie Nelsonās Luck Reunion and the SXSW Grammy party backing up Jessica Simpson. Check her recapĀ here. The next day,Ā I opened forĀ WaxahatcheeĀ at the ranch with my full band.Ā I wrapped recording on The Suffersā fourth studio album, and I helped my friendĀ Sara Van BuskirkĀ on album production for her sophomore album. Check out the music video for her latest single, āComfortable Lieā,Ā here. Ā Last week, I made my first trip out to Virginia Beach and Norlfolk, VA to collaborate and perform with my dear friend,Ā Roberta Lea. We released a holiday version of our country single, āToo Much Of Meā, and ended up performing it to a packed house at the Cavalier Hotel in Virginia Beach and on early morning television the next day onĀ WTRK for Music Fridays. This past Sunday, I performed at the 21st Annual Trills The Season Toy Drive and Concert. I did a rare solo dolo set, and you can view my performance of āTalk To Youā from that nightĀ here.
Before I close, Iād love to share a clip from a recent performance of my unreleased song,Ā āHappy Holidaysā. It was co-written with my friend and The Suffers bandmate,Ā Ed āBlacknintendoā Prevost. Thereās a lot happening in the world right now, and I hope this moment of music reminds you to take care of yourself and of others.Ā Thank you for supporting me, and reading this email. I canāt wait to share some of what I have coming up in the new year, but until then, Iāll simply say, happy holidays, and that I wish you a safe, healthy, and Happy New Year!
With love,
Kam Franklin

Kam Franklin and Friends this Sunday at Dan Electro's in Houston!
Itās wild to believe, but I have five days left until my solo album Kickstarter campaign comes to an end. Thank you to everyone that has shared, donated, or simply just clicked on the link to check it out. Youāve helped me get to the point where Iām talking about stretch goals! Wow! We did that! Hope to see some of y'all at my wrap party this Sunday, July 20th at Dan Electros!
I made an Apple Music playlist featuring the artists playing at Dan Electros with me at Kam Franklin & Friends this Sunday. It features new music and tracks you may have missed from Sara Van Buskirk, @reallyuncletino, Sergio Trevino of BUXTON and Ancient Cat Society, and Ed āBlacknintendoā Prevost of The Suffers.

My debut solo album, "Land Of The Neon Sun" is done, but I need your help releasing it into the world independently.
In case you missed it, I have 12 days left to fund my debut solo album Kickstarter campaign. The kind folks at @kickstarter named it one of their "Projects To Love" and I'm over the moon! This project was funded in 11 days, y'all! Now, I'm sharing the link to try and reach those stretch goals that will allow to do so much more with this project.
This album campaign has 12 days left, and Iām excited to roll out some stretch goals. If we keep pushing together, hereās what happens next:
At $25,000 ā Iāll include two bonus tracks in addition to everything already listed in the campaign.
At $30,000 ā Iāll announce a special karaoke party in Houston. This will take place in Spring 2026 and will be free and open to all Kickstarter supporters.
At $35,000 ā Iāll share a few clips from the album documentary (to be released in Spring 2026), featuring the journey, the people involved, and everything it took to bring this project to life.
At $40,000 ā Every backer will receive an exclusive Kickstarter-only merch item (a surprise, of course).
At $45,000 ā Iāll release the full tracklist and share the complete list of collaborators who helped shape this album.
At $50,000 ā Iāll do a full live performance of all the songs from the album in Houston. All backers will receive an invite and a livestream link to be part of it.
Thank you for believing in my voice, my story, and this album.
If youāve already contributed Ā ā THANK YOU. If youāre still thinking about it ā nowās a perfect time to join in and help push us toward these next milestones. Thank y'all so much! Let's keep going!!!
