I’m so excited to finally launch my Neopets in Filipiniana series! 🇵🇭✨
Week 1 kicks off with a Precolonial Philippines theme. Researching precolonial attire and history for this project was an incredible journey—especially exploring the "golden age" (called that because our ancestors wore an abundance of gold jewelry and woven gold ornaments!). Despite the level of detail required for each design, I’m really happy with how these outfits turned out.
Here is the complete artwork lineup for Precolonial Week:
Day 1 (Aug 1): Kauvara as a Babaylan performing a ritual, with a small Duwende standing nearby.
Day 2 (Aug 2): King Skarl and Lord Darigan dressed in precolonial royal garments with traditional Batok (body tattoos) and gold jewelry.
Day 3 (Aug 3): Tavi (from The Void Within) in Northern Luzon tribal attire holding red rice grains, with two Faellies pounding rice in a wooden mortar.
Day 4 (Aug 4): Queen Amira styled as a Tagalog/Kapampangan Dayang, holding a colorful Sarimanok.
Day 5 (Aug 5): Princess Vyssa portrayed as a secluded Binukot reading a scroll.
Day 6 (Aug 6): Jake the Explorer wearing traditional Mindanao-inspired tribal clothing (Yakan and Maranao woven patterns).
Day 7 (Aug 7): Jeran and my Neosona, Helena Baek in precolonial warrior armor and clothing with Batok tattoos—Jeran holds a Kampilan sword with Datu Lapulapu's name written in Baybayin on the hilt.
Day 8 (Aug 8): Kalinawa (my Island Aisha OC) riding a Balangay boat with a human tribe, while King Kelpbeard, Isca, Caylis, and Maraquan Neopets swim in precolonial Visayan attire alongside a majestic Butanding (Whale Shark).
Next week's theme will focus on the Spanish Colonial Era in the Philippines, so stay tuned! 🌺
