As far as how I feel about Grand Finals I feel like I need to delve a little bit into the controversy kinda surrounding her (Bayoneeta) in the community, in any fighting game there is always gonna be that one character that will be better than the rest of the roster, significant or not. Whether this changes via patch or not, at some point you have to accept that character for what it is. No player base in other fighting games bitch about the best character in their games NEARLY as much as the Smash 4 community does. It snowballed to a point where we were gonna prematurely BAN a character, which is a significant thing to do, because after Evo 2017 last year a Bayonetta went on to win the next two majors after. It’s a ridiculous mindset to have especially when people only started complaining when Bayo started winning majors? Yes, Bayonetta has several more tools than the rest of the cast. Yes, Bayonetta requires more matchup experience and practice than any other character but does that warrant a ban? Last time I checked there are only 5 Bayonettas doing well at top level that win (or have the capacity to win) majors. I will admit that was a time period that knowing how to sdi her ladder combos and her moveset was not readily available and widespread knowledge, but towards to the beginning of the year Tweek even made a video basically explaining how to get out of all her nonsense (don’t remember if he delved into some of her 50/50s but regardless it was the sdi info that was more essential). Anyways, this is getting long which wasn’t my intent lol, but regardless what I’m trying to say is that there is information readily available (even if you dont want to watch Tweek’s video there a damn sheet on twitter that shows you how to sdi her ladder combos), people in our community jsut aren’t willing to put in the work to learn how to deal with her, she isn’t as daunting (especially at mid-level play) as people think she is, I learned the matchup in two weeks with practice. It’s because of this toxic mindset that they direct their hate towards the ones that win the most with her, which unfortunately in Evo’s case was CaptainZack and Lima. I support them 100% because they just play the game with the mindset of winning, and Bayonetta is just the best character at achieving that in this game. The crowd was booing CaptainZack who likes to pose after a victory because he likes putting on a show. I feel as if he was within in his right to do that, even if he almost got dq’d for it lol. If I had managed to find him after the set (because Zack is my favorite Bayo player among the top ones) I would’ve congratulated him, told good shit for doing something that daring in Grand Finals, and took a selfie with him after (I actually legit hate Lima though, he is a good player but I legit don’t like him lol)
