The Narrator-Smitten parallels fascinate me so much. They have totally opposite goals and openly and mutually antagonize each other, but when you see a route like HEA, it proves that they’re very similar at their core. It just drives me up the wall because it feels like the thesis of the whole game, with it being a love story and there being this character who on the surface looks like love embodied and another character who naturally fits the role of an evil villain, but at the end of the day both of them are driven by fear, the fear of losing something they love, the narrator loving his world so much that he’s willing to sacrifice his own life for it, “don’t mind my sacrifice, it’s a fair price to pay to give her everything she doesn’t know she wants,” they’re the same they’re the freaking same hhhghfhhfhghfh-

Sorry about rambling in your inbox, I just think about HEA 25/7 and long story short it got me to like the narrator as a character but not because he changes his mind in this route, but because it helped me understand him better overall. He may be wrong, but he is painfully mortal.

AAAAA I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS ABOUT SMITTEN!

Honestly my obsession with HEA route is partly personal, because once, I was like the princess. Smitten is the embodiment of passion🙏

It's so heartbreaking seeing his journey throughout the route, it's bittersweet to see him become toxic in an attempt to give them the happiness he thought she(and TLQ) would be happy with, under the belief he was doing the right thing. How when he realized the princess would only be happy without him and faded for her sake. I'll always love smitten and this route gave me a new perspective on him.

AND THE PARALLELS I HAVEN'T EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT THAT BUT YOU'RE RIGHT. 😩 in a way, you could even argue they switched roles, at least partly...YES AAAA THEY'RE THE SAMEEE

Honestly I feel like some folks really underestimate the complexity of Narry🙏 everything he's done, it's from so deeply rooted empathy twisted into a selfish, selfless wish to preserve it all🙏❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹
