it happened out of pure emotion. it wasn’t uncommon for the boss and his assistant to share a glass of wine or two... which turned into three, four. at some point—and he can barely remember this⁠—yoosung started crying. listening to jumin talk about his feelings, his loneliness—it made him emotional.

so he hugged him. at that moment, it seemed like jumin needed a hug, just some kind of physical contact. the first time yoosung and jumin hugged, they were drunk. as the night went on, it led to something more, but it started with a hug.

and... to jumin, it felt like yoosung was holding onto him for dear life. hands flung around his neck, fingers gripping at his back. face buried into his shoulder. yoosung was... warm. his touch, it was warm. jumin felt warm. he hugged yoosung back with cold hands, but he felt warm.

jumin initiated the kiss. he didn’t know how it happened, not even now, looking back on it, but... yoosung, in that moment, was so beautiful. the tears streaming down his face were for him. he cared for him, enough to cry. he didn’t know if it was sympathy, compassion, or if... if he loved him, but rarely anyone had cared for him this much.

disoriented from drunkenness, the first kiss landed on yoosung’s cheek, the second on the corner of his mouth, and finally his lips. it was short, rushed, emotional, and he was barely thinking—just that he wanted to kiss yoosung and nothing else. they’d pulled away and leaned back in for another kiss, this one more passionate, and jumin can almost, almost remember the feeling of yoosung’s hands in his hair and his body... pressed against his.

jumin drank more wine, like he needed it. yoosung’s bright, loving smile never left his mind. love. could he love yoosung...? he doesn't use that word loosely. he’s never been in love before, never... thought about someone the way he thought about yoosung.

work. seeing him.

yoosung was the one to approach jumin. knocking on his open office door, asking for his hair clips. jumin stood up from his chair.

(oh my god, he wrapped them? in a bow?)

a spark of electricity when their fingers lightly brushed together, when jumin handed the clips to yoosung.

both were too scared to say anything, but... yoosung could see something in jumin’s eyes, that they’re sharing the same feelings, “i just can’t stop thinking about you and—”

jumin’s heart skipped a beat, because yoosung read him. he decoded him. he looked into his eyes and knew exactly what he was thinking, what he was feeling, and he could understand him. and the first time yoosung told him that he’s in love with him, his look showed that he knew jumin felt the same way.

he said it anyway. “i feel the same way.”

they were awkward, flustered messes, but this next kiss... yoosung stood on his tippy toes to press a quick kiss to jumin’s lips, face going red before he returned to his desk.
