One of the reasons I'm not actively watching Yashahime is because of this whole thing with Moroha being separated from her parents. Like, not only because I hate that personally and I think it was a really dumb plot point to make canon, but because there seems to be this theme with so many of my favorite characters being absent or shitty parents when there's no indication previously that would ever happen. I'm just sick of it. I'm happy with some of the canon pieces and everything else I'm just like...leave it.
The only reason I can bear watching some episodes of Yashahime is because I don't consider it canon. The only true canon for me is Rumiko Takahashi's manga, and nothing else (not even the Inuyasha anime).
But yeah, that seems to be a trend, right? I don't think I've seen anything as bad as Yashahime tho. I haven't watched Boruto, but I heard Naruto at least got to raise his kids and he's slowly fixing the conflicts he had with them? I also remember how Katara/Aang shippers were upset when The Legend of Korra came out and in that show it was said that Aang spent more time with one of his kids than the others, and his kids kind of resented him for it. But you know what? I wouldn't mind something like that for Inuyasha. I would much rather have a series where Inuyasha raised Moroha but he's an imperfect father. It would make sense because Inuyasha is clearly not a perfect person and he's always had troubles with relationships / social interactions because of his difficult life.
What Yashahime has done is rob him & Kagome of the chance to raise his kid from birth, and the writers made sure Moroha's life would be as bad as possible. Inuyasha's journey in canon, about finding a place to belong as a half-demon and finding companions that he can trust, was completely destroyed because none of his friends were there for his daughter when he needed them to be. But I'm pretty sure the reason the writers did this is precisely because they wanted us to be angry. In the age of social media, people tend to talk more about things that they hate and that make them angry than talk about things that they love. So the series get easy publicity, because we're talking about it and we're hoping this will be fixed somehow. The series introduced a thing called the "windmill of time", which hints at the possibility of a "time reset" so that none of this ever happened and the writers can leave the story in a clean state at the end. It's shitty, because this show isn't fun to watch and made us experience a lot of negative emotions, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's what the writers are doing.
There's also.... the problematic stuff in Yashahime, that I don't think they will fix, but that's a whole other can of worms that I'm not touching anymore, lol.
