Here’s a crazy and fun idea
Research before you buy a pet!! As someone who has worked in a pet store for a fair amount of time the amount of people who come into the store, see a pet that’s cheap, and then expect me to teach them everything they need to know! From experience I can tell you - people at pet stores could easily have no idea what they’re talking about - some may, but a lot don’t (I was hired before I even started my degree, and had little training - I had to learn everything from care sheets and in my own research - not every pet store worker does this!) There’s so much misinformation associated with pet stores so please don’t trust the store unless you know you can trust what they’re saying, otherwise there is an abundance of information on the internet, just make sure you can trust the site (there are lots of popular youtubers and tumblrs who know what they’re talking about, and make sure they can always source their information). There is no such thing as an ‘easy pet’, every animal have very specific habitat requirements and require dedication and research prior, to ensure you’re animals are healthy and happy. :D
