An Agatha Cristie novel, Murder with Mirrors, has bested me, yet again. I never can figure out her endings before I get there. Oh, well. It was an enjoyable read. I really thought the murderer was Jolly Bellever.

I finished reading American Prometheus. I really enjoyed it. I felt so badly for Oppenheimer. He really didn't deserve that ridiculous trial. Strauss frustrated me. Why on earth that man couldn't just let it go is beyond me.

I did finish Hillbilly Elegy by JD Vance. This book was thought-provoking. He has an interesting perspective on how government policies can help people because of his background. He came from a rough background, but because of solid grandparents and a lot of hard work and determination, he worked his way up the ladder, to serve honorably in our Marine Corps, attaining a law degree from Yale, and now as Vice President of the United States! The book is a little slow moving, but very good. I enjoyed getting to know the new Vice President a little bit, where he came from, and his point of view. Five Stars.

I also really enjoyed the History of Britain. I don't have much to say, other than the fact that I loved it, and learned a lot.

I turned the last page of The Fellowship of the Ring last night :) such a good book. I enjoyed it a lot. This reread has been very interesting in helping me see things I missed the first time around. I definitely saw Boromir's corruption coming a lot sooner. I still love Pippin best--he's awesome. I forgot how many funny one liners he has.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked Ubik! It definitely had some dated lines in the gender and racism area, but there were some very good twists and turns that kept me guessing and I read it in basically one go. ⭐️⭐️⭐️A nice homage to And Then There Were None. The atmosphere is great but it looses points for what might have been a clunky translation and prose that feels a little dated!
