Title taken from the song by the same name. I don't even listen to country music but as soon as I finished, I couldn't get this one out of my head.
I hope you like this! I had a lot of fun writing it.

Bless the Broken Road
It was the second week of the twelfth month of the year and Alexander Lightwood hadnāt slept because today the circus was coming to town. Heād been pacing in his room for the better part of the hour waiting for the sun to rise knowing that just outside the castle walls, the love of his life was setting up camp and preparing to dazzle the people of Alicante with the spectacular sights and death-defying acts that only the men and woman that called the Shadow World Circus their home could perform. It was a place that Alec loved visiting - and something that had become even more special as the years ticked by and he grew closer to one particular acrobat.
Alec had been fourteen years old when heād first slipped away from his guard and escaped from the castle with no one the wiser. He hadnāt had a destination in mind as he pulled a cloak over his head to shield himself from wandering eyes and followed the familiar cobblestone paths into the center of town. He only wanted to take a few hours to himself. His lessons earlier that day had been particularly vexing and his parents were riding him harder than normal after they took in the son of an old friend who turned out to be better at everything than Alec himself was. Jace was the perfect son in their eyes and it was only a shame that he was adopted and couldnāt take the throne. Instead, they pushed Alec nearly to his breaking point hoping that he would one day become the king that they desperately wished their new son could be.

I know you are very far removed from the fandom but Iām binge watching Bridgerton and now I canāt get the Draco/Ginny AU out of my head it fits so well it almost writes itself. Anyway, youāre the only old DG person I follow and I had to tell someone.
Oooh, I havenāt seen Bridgerton but Iāve heard itās good
Yeah I canāt say I have much to do with HP these days in terms of fandom, but one of my friends started up a discord not that long ago for them. Can pass on the link if youāre interested š
@justawanderer hereās your gift for @mlsecretsanta ! Iām a sucker for some holiday fluff and post-reveal, pre-relationship goodness and I had so much fun writing this. Hope you enjoy!

He hadnāt meant to say it aloud.
āI wish I had what those two have.ā
At first, when the words slipped out, he thought heād been quiet enough that she didnāt hear. But the unmistakable flush of pink across her cheeks and her sudden downcast eyes told him everything he needed to know. Sheād most definitely heard him.
Sheād been walking by his side all afternoon, close enough that if his hand outstretched, his fingertips might touch hers. A stark contrast to Alya and Nino, whoād been glued together at every possible instant. Whether it be walking with their arms loosely linked together, or a nudge of their ankles as they smiled playfully at one another across a cafe table, it seemed the two of them couldnāt stand to be apart even for a moment.
And then there was Marinette. So close he could feel her body heat and smell the hint of sugary sweetness that seemed to permeate her clothes no matter how long she spent out of the bakery. So close, and yet he didnāt dare to reach out and close the gap, even though heād done it thoughtlessly so many times before.
The day heād found out her secret, it was like a switch had been flipped. His partner, his other half, his Ladybug, was right by his side and he couldnāt bring himself to break the invisible barrier sheād put up between them. They hadnāt so much as shaken hands ever since theyād learned of each othersā identities, both too afraid to initiate, afraid the implications and secrets and feelings might all come flooding out in an uncontrollable rush.
But that unmistakable slip of the tongue, those simple words, finally seemed to chip away at her shield.
āI know what you mean,ā she replied softly, the chill of winter making each puff of air visible.
But even then, he hadnāt meant it exactly the way heād said.
Sure, the idea of mutual feelings and a comfortable familiar relationship was, on the surface level, exactly what he longed for. But in a sense, he already had that. With Marinette. No, with Ladybug.
The countless times theyād fought side by side, wholly trusting each other with their lives, constantly making the other their top priority, never once doubting the unspoken loyalty and companionship that made them the perfect duo.
And that sentiment still rang true outside of the suits, at least somewhat. Marinette, who had made his most treasured birthday gift and defended his honor against Lila and constantly put her own feelings aside for his sake.
There was no doubt, of course she felt the same way about him. Heād been blind not to see it before.
Anyone else would feel lucky. But Adrien just felt lost. Ever since the truth came out, they were stuck at a stalemate, not knowing how to proceed. Too afraid to put their partnership at risk for the chance of something greater.
Adrien pulled his scarf tighter, the sting of the winter wind biting as his face as the four of them wound through the city streets, taking in the sights and sounds of lights and laughter. He noticed the way Marinette tucked her gloved hands further into her pockets for warmth and wished he could intertwine their fingers together, the way Nino and Alya did a few paces ahead of them.
If only it were that easy.
That thought alone almost made him laugh. Heād confessed his love for his Lady so many times heād lost count. Heād attempted to kiss her just as many times. And twice, heād been fortunate enough to succeed. Or at least thatās what heād been told, though luck would have it, he didnāt actually remember either instance.
And now the thought of even looking her in the eyes for a moment too long made his heart beat wildly, more so than ever before.
Yet he risked another glance in her direction anyway. And to his surprise, she was looking back.
Adrien froze in his tracks, utterly taken aback by her intense stare. Marinette stopped alongside him. She offered a small, awkward smile, which Adrien returned with a shrug.
āYouāre awfully quiet today,ā Marinette whispered. By now, Alya and Nino had trailed far ahead, two lovebirds so engrossed in one another that they hadnāt noticed the distance theyād made. Far enough away that they wouldnāt hear Adrien and Marinetteās hushed voices.
āSo are you,ā Adrien said. He laughed sadly. āItās like weāve forgotten how to talk to each other.ā
Marinette broke eye contact, the pressure feeling like all too much at once. āOr maybe we have too much to say. And we donāt know where to begin.ā
āYeah,ā Adrien replied after a beat. āThat too.ā
He stared at the ground, shuffling his feet aimlessly, kicking up layers of freshly fallen snow.
The perfect duo who couldnāt even hold a conversation. The cruel irony wasnāt lost on either of them.
āIām sorry things are weird,ā Adrien said, at which the same time Marinette muttered, āIāve missed you.ā
He blinked rapidly, trying hard to swallow the air caught in his throat. āWhat?ā he sputtered.
Marinette took a step closer, her voice hushing even further, though their friends had put enough distance between them that theyād have no chance of overhearing. āYou shouldnāt have to apologize. Neither of us could have seen this coming.ā
āWellā¦ā Adrien considered, āwe could have if we were paying a little more attention.ā
She tried and failed to stifle her laugh, the joyful noise feeling like a massive relief to Adrien, whoād been so afraid of saying the wrong thing or coming off as insensitive. Heād made the mistake of cracking a joke at an inappropriate moment far too many times.
āI guess youāre right,ā Marinette smiled. āGod, how could I have been so blind?ā
Hesitantly, he placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. āItās okay. Youāre not the only one.ā
To his surprise, she didnāt pull away. Instead, she stepped closer, pulling him into a sudden tight hug. His eyes widened as he instinctively wrapped his arms around her thin torso, the familiarity of her taking over. He relaxed into her, his chin resting atop her head.
With her so close and holding on so tight, the bitter chill of the evening air was snuffed out and forgotten entirely. They stayed there, locked in an embrace beneath the treesā twinkling holiday lights overhead. Her warmth and her smell and sheer comfort of her presence warmed him from the inside out. Her sigh of relief, so loud and close to his ear, told him everything he needed to know. They were going to be okay.
He prayed she couldnāt hear the way his heart pounded. But, if it wasnāt his imagination, he was sure hers was beating just as quickly.
In the distance, underneath the whistling of the wind, Adrien thought he might have heard the sound of Alya and Ninoās footsteps stop. They were probably staring. He didnāt care.
After another moment that seemed never-ending yet still not long enough, he felt her begin to let go. She pulled away from him just enough to look him in the eyes.
āSorry,ā she smiled sheepishly, averting her gaze downward so that her eyelashes brushed her faintly red cheeks.
āDonāt be,ā Adrien whispered. Then before he could let his fear take over, he asked, āWhat was that other thing you said?ā
āHm?ā
āYou said you missed me,ā he raised a hand to her chin and gently tilted it up so that their eyes could meet once more. āBut Iām right here. And Iām not going anywhere.ā
Her mouth fell open slightly, then closed again. Her words failing her, she resolved to simply nod.
Adrien took a deep breath, trying hard not to let her closeness distract him. āThings might be different now,ā he continued, ābut that just means weāll work through it. Just like we always have. No pressure, no rush. And when weāre both ready, we can decide where to go from there. If thatās okay with you, of course.ā
From the corner of his eye, Adrien could see his friends staring at them quizzically, both probably with a million questions running through their minds. But he didnāt dare look away from Marinette.
Slowly, after mulling over her thoughts, Marinette nodded. āOkay,ā she said quietly, then louder, āOkay.ā
That one word had been enough to quell all of his fears. No matter what dangers they faced or obstacles they had to work over, Chat Noir and Ladybug were partners. A team. A perfect duo. And nothing would get in the way of that.
And perhaps someday, Adrien and Marinette could be the same. For now, though, Adrien was happy to just have her by his side, facing the challenge of the bitter cold and the long walk home.
Taking his hand from her face, Adrien reached down and gave Marinetteās hand a gentle reassuring squeeze. And when she didnāt let go, he didnāt either.
Hey dear I donāt know you but I saw your Adrienette how to cure a cold comic and I love it! But I want you to know that Iāve seen it on Pinterest. Idk if you have a Pinterest, I know you stamped your name all over it, but they may have posted it with out your permission. You can ask Pinterest to take it down. Just wanted you to know!
Yeah, I donāt have a Pinterest. People just take my artwork and repost it all over the place like it belongs to them and that it doesnāt sayĀ ādo not repostā all over it. Itās incredible how inconsiderate and rude people can be. Like they do it without a second thought and what does it do? Give them followers and likes and undeserved exposure for doing absolutely nothing.
I sit here and create free content for the fandom to enjoy and all I ask is that it isnāt reposted to other sites by people and they canāt even do that. My favorite is when they repost it and sayĀ āI donāt know who made this. Credit to the artist! šššā when my name is all over it and then in the same breath they goĀ āDonāt repost my work without credit!!ā like they arenāt a GIANT hypocrite.
The only thing I allow to be reposted is translated versions of my comics and even then, I require it to have credit attached to it.

I took an exact-o knife and cut the epilogue out of all 4 of my Hallows books(most of us have multiple copies right?). If itās not there, I donāt have to acknowledge it.
I so want to do this (I have a few sets myself lol) but the need to rip it out is at war with my need to never harm a book because they are my precious babies.Ā Ā lol
Have you heard Believer by Imagine Dragons, because it's been stuck in my head for like two weeks, and my head cannon for the song is that Zutara is arguing and Katara tries to argue by putting words in Zuko's mouth and they are quasi friends but both obviously love each other, and so they're fighting and zuko just kinda tells the lyrics at her or maybe he's in a band and later at a gig he tells her to listen closely and sings it to her and omfg I'm sorry for just rambling.
yeah iāve heard of it! one of my favourite songs but i actually headcanon it as a bellamy blake (from the 100) song lmao. iāve actually never thought of it as a zuko song but it could totally work because zuko and bellamy are similar anyway
