Prince, "The Future (William Orbit remix)"

Producer and musician William Orbit died last week, age 69. His own great music aside, the songs he worked on for/with others are awesome. This takes a mediocre Prince song off the Batman soundtrack and remixes it into a house classic.

The Guardian came up with a nice playlist of his tunes and productions. NB: Find the cited version, which is not always what's posted to the Spotify playlist they include.

Much great music came from this talented man.

I hereby proudly introduce to you what no-one asked for: A Sam Therapy Remix Album.

my interest in the interface between industrial culture and electronic dance music began when going to the club was impossible. during the pandemic, when the sam therapy was born, i felt a sense of longing for the dance floor i had never felt before. it was during this time, i finally discovered what dance music could be – beyond terrible chart remixes in spaces crowded with people who made me feel unsafe. truth be told, i still hate being in crowded public spaces. but i do enjoy a good track. and the right company. i am in very good company on this release. over the course of the last few months, i approached friends, acquaintances... people who inspire me with my idea: dance remixes of my noise album I Deserve To Be Hurt. why the fuck would i want that? all of this is an elaborate effort to prove to myself that i DO deserve to be heard. stepping out of my comfort zone to connect with people for the sake of a collaborative creative project is a therapeutic strategy. communication. the artists included on here offered their precious time and energy to actually listen to me and then reflected back what they heard using their own unique voice. is there anything more beautiful than actually being heard? admittedly, something inside of me has always been jealous of how many people are attracted to and moved, literally, by dance music. this is my unique opportunity to get a share of that cake, too.

Sam Therapy is now dancable. enjoy it while it lasts.
