Ruby loves weapons. She learns how to forge them cause of that, and ends up opening a place for knives and swords and stuff. Blake stops in one day while looking for a gift for her father, thinking of a traditional style sword he'd like. That was the first time she and Ruby met. Ghira got that sword, and Blake ended up replacing every knife in her house with one of Ruby's, one by one, as an excuse to keep going back. Ruby never questions someone wanting that many knives either.

Blake hadn't liked halloween for a long time. She wasn't that into sweets, didn't like the decorations, HATED the black cat imagery for obvious reasons, and was always annoyed by the number of prejudiced costumes where humans dressed as faunus. Until Ruby found out and refused to let anyone be upset on her favorite day. So she let Ruby dictate her halloween as a b-day present. Turns out when she has something worth celebrating and people to do so with, it can be a pretty great day.
