Just finished Just Ash by Sol Santana, and I just got to say as an intersex person, it started off so strong. I connected to the book on a very strong emotional level, something that doesn’t happen very often. But then in the second half it just kind of derails, and that was so disappointing. There were a couple lines that put up a red flag for misandry, at least one but I think a few more that were misogynistic, and the whole ending felt like it was kind of slapped together or incomplete. Not to mention some very important things are introduced or mentioned just to never be brought up again? Like that’s not something you can just glance over or forget! Not to mention they didn’t even try to defend themselves when accused, and that one “friend.” I hope this author can do great things in the future but for now this book is not near ready.
