tristen has no memory of either of his parents, he’s just been raised on the castle grounds with other trainees and recruits for as long as he can remember, and it’s been mostly men in his life. he’s not bothered by not having family, though! (maybe he should be)

jusqa’s parents died in an accident when he was very young and he’s been raised by his uncle (father’s brother) ever since. he has a couple keepsakes from his mom and that’s about it. his uncle says he’s got the same sort of pout as his mom, the difference being that it’s jusqa’s default expression lol

sofiel is very close with her mom, and she’s an inspiration to her in so many ways, even though sofiel feels like she isn’t very similar to her (she is, just in more subtle ways that sofiel can’t pick up on herself)

lillene only has her mama, no dad. she doesn’t see her much anymore because she’s off at school, but she writes letters to her all the time. her mom’s a real sweetheart and raised her baby girl much the same.

notik only has vague memories of their parents. a lot of youth in their time have resentment towards their parents for being ‘selfish’ enough to have kids in such a shitty world, but notik doesn’t think that—they think it was really strong of their mom and dad, their mom especially, to want to continue on with life in spite of everything. they wonder whatever happened to them.
