"So, Evan’s back in town,” June says suddenly, her tone casual, as if she’s talking about the weather. Nora feels like she’s been doused in cold water, the shock of it stealing her breath for a second.

And it’s finally time to bust out the winter banner!
A while back I teased the idea that I’d like to give Junora a try, and as my idea is most likely unoriginal, here I am! This was also supposed to be posted before Thanksgiving, but my holiday work schedule started a week earlier than I was told.
This is far longer than seven sentences, but you deserve to have it all.
So, let’s get into June and all of her pining feelings for Nora!
Now that she lost her best friend after kissing her in a wine drunk haze, she wished she could go back in time and never poured that fourth glass. She wished she never heard Nora laugh because seeing the way her face lit up the room had been the catalyst for June ruining everything.
Alex leaned over and bumped shoulders with her, his hands still applauding whatever’s been done at the table. She clearly wasn’t paying attention to the present because everything around her brought up the past.
“You doing okay? You haven’t tried your wine and you missed Henry trying the cranberry sauce. He makes the most adorable faces when he’s disgusted.”
The blurry wine glass came back into focus and she let out a sigh. If she were alone the glass of wine would be tipped over, leaving a dark red stain in its wake.
Alex’s brow raised in alarm. “Something really must be off with you. No comeback either? Not even a ‘he’s been disgusted with you since the day you met’”?
He brought his hand to her forehead, obviously checking for a fever that wasn’t to be found.
June pushed his hand off of her face.
“We’re talking about this later. I’m putting down the ‘Serious Sibling Time’ card,” he said.
She groaned as her head hung. The ‘Serious Sibling Time’ card was supposed to be for emergencies only. It was something they came up with during their mother’s first presidential term. Whenever things felt too heavy, either sibling has the opportunity to call the imaginary card, and then they hid in one of the many rooms of the White House and talk about the serious thing that was on their mind.
June didn’t want to talk about this because she still didn’t really know what this was and what it all meant.
She picked her head up to look across the table at Nora and Pez again. The pit in her stomach was still there as Nora placed her hand onto Pez’s arm and continued to laugh at whatever funny thing he said.

A snippet of the The Fellowship chapter that went live today, plus I have a little more of werewolf verse part IV for you all, which should be posted on Halloween weekend as scheduled because I just finished it this morning! All of which is a lot, so it's all under the cut. Hope everyone has had a relaxing weekend and has a wonderful week!
A bit of junora from today's chapter of The Fellowship...
There was one practice session, though, that was different from all the rest. Shaan had paired them up- Cash with Amy and Nora, of course, with June, while Pez watched on the sidelines. Though he had offered to teach them along with the others, Pez had politely declined, claiming that Ents had defensive strategies of their own that were better for creatures of their stature.
June and Nora had been circling each other, until all of a sudden, June lunged, knocking Nora off her feet.
She stared up at June, panting, not sure if her breathlessness had more to do with June's proximity or how she had ended up there in the first place. June's curls were falling over her face, getting into her eyes, and Nora longed to reach out and touch them, stroke them, tuck them behind her ear, but she resisted (though that was no small feat).

Henry's hands were shaking, only for Alex to wrap them in his own. “Don't worry, H. You've got this.”
Henry wasn't so sure about that. After all, it wasn't every day he told his sister he had abandoned everything they had ever known. “You'll be there, right?”
“Sweetheart, if you think I could possibly leave your side at all, but especially when you're dealing with something as important as this, you clearly don't know me at all.”

Sure enough, they could soon hear hoofbeats slowly approaching. Nora and the others shrank back into the trees, but June, much to her dismay, didn’t seem to notice the danger.
She was too lost in whatever that Ring was doing to her mind, and Nora wouldn’t- couldn’t- stand it.
When June reached into her shirt, where Nora knew the Ring was resting on a chain around her neck, Nora didn’t think.
She lunged, knocking June to the ground. The others rushed toward them with cries of alarm, but Nora blocked them out, her focus solely centered on June and the otherworldly rider that was making her lose her senses.

So I have big news to share. Not only did I just post ch 3 of my LOTR AU this morning, but the second fic of the LOTR AU is sitting at 39k and officially COMPLETE other than edits!

“Take this,” her grandfather finally said, handing her an old journal that was far too familiar.
Nora's eyes were wide when she looked back up at him. “Your plants journal? Are you sure? What if you need it?” He had spent decades compiling it. The idea that he would give it to her after all this time… it meant more than she could possibly say.

And June could understand Nora’s mistrust, really she could. The thing was, though, Nora didn’t know what it was like to be the one who possessed the Ring, the pressure it put on a hobbit- or someone who had once resembled one more closely. So for better or worse, Smeagol was fine.
No, it was the aesthetics of the marshes Smeagol was leading them through that set June on edge. The light on this side of the river had always been grey, but there was something about the marshes that was different, an ethereal glow lighting the place from the ground up. Looking down and all around her, June saw that pools were interspersed throughout the land as far as the eye could see.
“What makes them glow?” she asked Smeagol, not sure he would know the answer.
